Hyundai L&C, a comprehensive building-materials company under the Hyundai Department Store Group, has unveiled a top-of-the-line engineered stone boasting design patterns so exceptional they are indistinguishable from natural stone, setting out to capture the premium building-materials market.
Hyundai L&C announced that it has launched the high-end engineered stone 'Opimo Collection.' Engineered stone is made using quartz, a 100%-pure, high-quality natural mineral, giving it a low risk of surface scratching and breakage and minimizing the cracking and color unevenness that can occur with natural stone. The newly released 'Opimo Collection' combines the product performance and advantages of 'Kanstone'—Hyundai L&C's No. 1 engineered stone brand in Korea—with differentiated pattern designs and large-format dimensions made possible by the latest multi-compression equipment from Italy's Breton, introduced here for the first time in the world. In particular, the 'Opimo Collection' offers outstanding strength and stain resistance while, as a world first, applying the 'layered veining' that is a signature characteristic of natural quartzite—something that had previously been impossible to reproduce. Its dimensions are also a strength: at a wide format (3,300×1,650 mm) that is about 28% larger than the standard size (3,050×1,400 mm), it offers high versatility.
Lee Jae-gak, Executive Director and Head of Hyundai L&C's Interior Stone Business, said, "The biggest feature of Opimo's layered veining pattern is a level of finish so high that it is difficult to distinguish from natural stone with the naked eye," adding, "We plan to display kitchen furniture and art walls featuring Opimo at the Gallery Q showroom in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, and to actively pursue the premium stone market."
Meanwhile, Hyundai L&C showcased key products from the 'Opimo Collection' at 'KBIS (The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show) 2023,' North America's largest kitchen and bath exhibition, this past January, receiving a strong response in the global market—so much so that most of the trial-produced initial volume was delivered to major regions of the United States. At the exhibition, Hyundai L&C drew visitors' attention with a standalone booth built around an 'Art Theater' concept, where guests could appreciate works of art under the theme 'Art Created by Nature, EARTH' (a combination of Earth and Art). 080-729-8272
