Hyundai L&C has signed an exclusive contract with a European materials company renowned for its outstanding technical capabilities, introducing a differentiated kitchen cabinetry solution to the domestic market.

Hyundai L&C, the comprehensive building-materials company of the Hyundai Department Store Group, announced that it will exclusively import Italy's 'Mediaprofili' — considered one of Europe's top three kitchen cabinetry manufacturers — and present made-to-order kitchen doors built on innovative technology. Mediaprofili is a global company that produces a wide range of custom doors for residential spaces such as bathrooms and built-in wardrobes, with kitchen doors used for upper and lower kitchen cabinets as its flagship product.

With Mediaprofili, every element of a kitchen door — from the wood-based core and the surface material to the manufacturing method — can be selected as desired. Its greatest strength lies in delivering high-quality design and finishing based on top-tier surface-material bonding technology. Notably, the company excels at postforming technology, which applies heat and pressure to attach film, allowing finishing materials to be bonded naturally even onto curved surfaces. It can also apply a wide variety of surface materials, from smooth designs to deeply embossed films. Thanks to this technical expertise, the range of choices extends even to three-dimensional designs while still enabling a sophisticated finish.

For the core, the Honeycomb lightweight board is the most distinctive option. The Honeycomb board is a lightweight board with a honeycomb-shaped structure that is light in weight yet offers excellent strength and durability. Its light weight reduces the burden of opening and closing even large-format doors, and it also lowers wood consumption, easing the environmental load.

The product drawing the greatest response lately is the three-dimensional stripe design. As more interiors embrace the transparency and openness of glass-front cabinets or glass surfaces, preference for stripe patterns that pair well with them is on the rise. Precisely applied to curved surfaces, the design delivers a sense of depth unlike ordinary flat designs, satisfying both visual and tactile experiences. In addition, Mediaprofili pursues sustainability across all of its materials and production processes, achieving more than 2,200 tons of carbon reduction annually. Through film made from recycled raw materials (Recycled PET·PP), it recycles about 300,000 PET bottles every day, and it minimizes waste by developing a 100% recyclable core. Furthermore, all the energy required for its production processes is covered entirely by renewable energy (RE; Reusable Energy) such as biomass, solar, and wind power.

Meanwhile, Hyundai L&C supplies Mediaprofili with Bodaq Deco, a furniture film. Bodaq Deco is a material used on the surfaces of furniture, wall-covering materials, home appliances, and more. Its representative products include 'Extreme Matt (EMT)' film, which offers excellent anti-fingerprint and stain-resistance properties; 'Deep Emboss,' which realizes a three-dimensional feel and the impression of genuine natural materials through deep contours; and 'Dual Solid,' whose color changes depending on the viewing angle and lighting. In particular, 'R-PET (Recycled Pet),' which utilizes recycled raw materials, was the first in Korea to earn both the global GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and Korea's GR (Good Recycled) certification, recognizing its excellence.

A Hyundai L&C official said, "Mediaprofili is a product that combines innovative technology, sophisticated design, and sustainability," adding, "Through these new-concept products, domestic customers will be able to add new value to their kitchen interiors, and we plan to continue steady growth amid a changing market environment through ongoing collaboration with global companies."
