Customized structural frames with enhanced airtightness and waterproofing performance
EAGON Windows has launched its new aluminum curtain wall ‘EFS 60,’ expanding the lineup of its Façade Series.
EAGON Windows’ ‘Façade Series’ maximizes aesthetic function and a sense of openness through slim sightline widths, while enhancing the value of buildings with stable, powerful performance—making it highly preferred at premium construction sites. EAGON Windows curtain walls have been installed in numerous landmark buildings at home and abroad, including Incheon International Airport, the National Museum of Korea, and the National Museum of Qatar.
This new aluminum curtain wall ‘EFS 60’ features further enhanced insulation and structural performance. A key characteristic is that it enables design work by applying the curtain wall over a larger area on the building exterior compared to existing products. In particular, the aluminum profile can be selected in 25㎜ increments according to the design site, and the maximum fabrication size can be produced and installed at an extra-large scale of up to 2×5.1m without steel reinforcement, and up to 2×6.9m with reinforcement installed. In addition, the unitized steel reinforcement, which can be assembled as an integrated unit, maintains a stable building design without twisting or bending even under wind pressure caused by climate change, and by inserting high-performance insulation, it strengthens thermal performance compared to standard aluminum curtain walls, providing users with a safer and more comfortable space. When combined with the ‘EWS 60 SG (Eagon Window System 60 Structural Glazing Type),’ a casement window dedicated to curtain walls, indoor–outdoor air circulation is also possible. Furthermore, unlike conventional curtain wall–dedicated windows, the ‘EWS 60 SG’ features a polyamide bar inserted within the frame to minimize the heat loss that can occur between the door and the frame. In addition, a special gasket is applied to the joints where the vertical and horizontal bars connect, strengthening airtightness performance—a common weak point of standard curtain walls.
Convenient assembly and enhanced constructability are also major strengths of the ‘EFS 60.’ The new ‘EFS 60’ uses the aluminum Hole-Cleat assembly method commonly employed in system windows, helping to fasten profiles strongly and to a high quality regardless of the worker’s skill level. For installation, it also directly applies the method specified in the regulations of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), ensuring a solid and stable structure when the curtain wall is applied to a building. Moreover, the improved airtightness and waterproofing performance, along with the ability to use sustainable materials, are also noteworthy aspects of the ‘EFS 60.’ The gasket installed at the joints is designed to bond more tightly with the side gaskets, minimizing water leakage, and above all, its silicone-free method allows material recycling, enabling continuous use as long as there is no deformation of the product.
Beyond this, EAGON Windows meets various requirements related to the elevation design and engineering that architects seek to realize, utilizing structural analysis and design programs such as ‘Midas’ as well as programs for analyzing the thermal performance of windows. Building on this, it offers a free ‘Design Support Service’ for architects and professionals and also provides expert consulting.
