Bold, vibrant colors and new materials added to the original designs
To mark its 80th anniversary, IKEA has launched the second series of its 'Nytillverkad' collection, which reinterprets the company's iconic designs in a contemporary way.
'Nytillverkad' is a collection that gives a fresh reinterpretation to past designs carefully selected from the IKEA archive, reflecting the growing trend of interest in characterful vintage furniture. Going back to its roots, IKEA has added bold, vibrant colors and new materials to its simple, practical original designs to create products suited to contemporary tastes.
Johan Ejdemo, Global Design Manager at IKEA's Product Development and Supply headquarters, said, "The Nytillverkad collection, which brings together classic design and a contemporary sensibility, is a truly IKEA collection that captures simplicity, functionality, bold expression, and playful design all at once."
In particular, this newly released second series focuses on reinterpreting the intense, daring mood that defined the late 1970s and early 1980s. It captures the era-defining characteristics of vivid colors, originality, lively fabric patterns, and bold forms, and the works of respected designers such as Niels Gammelgaard, Bent Gantzel-Boysen, Sven Fristedt, and Inez Svensson have been reborn as products crafted to modern materials and production standards. The flagship product of the second series of the 'Nytillverkad' collection is the 'Yellsa side table' designed by Gammelgaard. IKEA has newly designed the Yellsa mobile side table—introduced as HOFF in the 1984 catalog—with a folding structure reinforced for durability. You can also find cushion covers and pre-
cut fabric featuring Sven Fristedt's bold, eye-catching 'Svedjenäva' pattern with its striking animal-paw motif, as well as Svensson's iconic 'Nyckelpiga' pattern, marked by its vivid orange and white stripes.
Karin Gustavsson, Product Range Identity Leader at IKEA's Product Development and Supply headquarters, said, "This collection, consisting of furniture and accessories, will be a perfect choice for creating a distinctive space with stylish interiors or for adding a point of interest to an existing space," adding, "We hope people will place IKEA's iconic products—loved for many years—in any space and admire them like beautiful works of art."
Meanwhile, this past August, IKEA unveiled the first series of the 'Nytillverkad' collection, notable for its bright, cheerful colors, which has been receiving a positive response from customers. The 'Nytillverkad' collection is available at all IKEA Korea stores (Gwangmyeong, Goyang, Giheung, and Dongbusan), as well as through the official online store (www.ikea.com) and app, and through Hej Order, the remote ordering service available by phone or chat. 1670-4532
