Adding antibacterial function to water-based adhesive, cementing its status as an eco-friendly material
Hyundai L&C has become the first in the industry to launch 'Bodak,' an interior film featuring a natural antibacterial function.
Having applied a water-based adhesive to the adhesive surface last year, Hyundai L&C has now added a natural antibacterial function this year, firmly establishing its position as an eco-friendly interior product. Hyundai L&C's interior film 'Bodak' is a surface finishing material that can be attached to walls, moldings, doors, furniture and more, thanks to a special adhesive applied to the back of the film. It is an interior product perfectly suited for partially reforming unsightly surfaces or for transforming the mood of an entire home with a new style.
The newly launched 'Bodak' product contains a natural antibacterial agent with a porous structure added to the existing Bodak product, suppressing harmful bacteria that may proliferate on the film surface and keeping the film in a hygienic condition. In addition, it has completed antibacterial testing for suppression of harmful bacteria and more through major domestic and international institutions such as the FITI Testing & Research Institute. Furthermore, 'Bodak' is the first in the industry to hold the Korea Atopy Association's Atopy Safety Certification and the Ministry of Environment's Indoor Mark. It also applied a water-based adhesive to the adhesive surface last year, minimizing the generation of volatile organic compounds and earning the highest grade of the HB Mark, an eco-friendly building materials certification. With the addition of an antibacterial function, it has been reborn as an eco-friendly product that consumers can use with confidence.
The new antibacterial 'Bodak' product has been launched first for a total of 54 patterns—34 solid-color patterns and 20 painted wood patterns—out of the roughly 430 patterns Bodak currently offers. Hyundai L&C plans to gradually increase the number of antibacterial patterns going forward.
In addition, although 'Bodak' is not a DIY product, its installation is not difficult, and cases of it being used in self-interior projects are increasing. This past April, a scene featuring 'Bodak,' sponsored by Hyundai L&C, being used to reform kitchen doors was aired on the MBC entertainment program 'Change My Home (Bakkwojwo Homes),' which centers on self-interior design.
A Hyundai L&C official said, "Now that being eco-friendly has become an essential requirement in the market, we must raise the eco-friendliness standards not only for new products but also for existing ones," adding, "With the philosophy of creating spaces where people can stay safely and without worry, we are steadily researching and developing environmentally friendly products, and based on this we will lead the eco-friendly interior market." 080-729-8272
