An interior board with interior film attached on top of an inorganic material board
LG Hausys has launched 'LG Z:IN Interior Board,' a semi-non-combustible wall interior finishing material that secures the fire safety required to comply with the Special Act on Safety Management of Multi-Use Businesses.
Multi-use businesses such as postnatal care centers, gosiwon (studydormitories), rest restaurants, and game rooms are required to install interior finishing materials made of non-combustible or semi-non-combustible materials indoors, and since the law took effect in 2014, its regulations, oversight, and supervision have continued to be strengthened. In response, LG Hausys has unveiled 'LG Z:IN Interior Board,' a semi-non-combustible wall finishing material in which interior film is attached on top of a lightweight inorganic material board, and has actively moved to capture the related market. The walls of buildings such as multi-use businesses are generally finished in the order of cement–gypsum board–MDF board–interior film; 'LG Z:IN Interior Board' is characterized by enhanced fire safety and installation convenience through an integrated form in which film is attached to a fire-resistant inorganic material board instead of an MDF board.
In particular, 'LG Z:IN Interior Board' does not spread easily even when ignited and releases a small amount of hazardous substances in the event of a fire; it recently obtained a semi-non-combustible performance certificate from the Korea Fire Institute (KFI), securing fire safety. In addition, an environmental mark-certified interior film is applied to the surface, so total volatile organic compound (TVOC) emission is less than 0.1 mg/㎡h, and there is no exposure to the four major heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium. The new product 'LG Z:IN Interior Board' is released in 20 varied designs and colors including wood, stone, marble, and fabric, allowing a wide range of atmospheres suited to the characteristics of each space; customers can also select and apply the design they want from among more than 400 types of LG Hausys interior films according to their taste.
Park Min-soo, Executive Vice President in charge of LG Hausys's Surface Materials & Industrial Film business, said, "LG Z:IN Interior Board is a wall finishing material developed in line with the strengthening of building fire safety regulations, taking into account not only the functionality of preventing fire spread but also design and installation convenience," adding, "We will expand supply into the commercial space market, including multi-use businesses where the use of semi-non-combustible materials is mandatory, and actively contribute to strengthening the fire safety of domestic buildings."
A high-performance insulation material applying semi-non-combustible special-formulation technology to existing PF insulation
LG Hausys is launching a semi-non-combustible core material product for the first time in Korea's PF (phenolic foam) insulation industry, taking the lead in the high-performance insulation market with outstanding fire safety and thermal insulation.
Recently, in order to raise the fire safety level of domestic buildings, the government has strengthened the 'standards for the flame-retardant performance of building finishing materials and structures preventing fire spread' under the Building Act. First, from June 29, for exterior wall finishing materials, the semi-non-combustible-or-higher performance previously required only for the front single side is expanded to all sides including the back and sides; and from December 23, the revised Building Act takes effect requiring that even the core material of composite materials secure semi-non-combustible-or-higher performance. In response, LG Hausys has developed and introduced to the market a PF insulation product that maintains the top-level thermal insulation performance among domestic building insulation materials while also securing fire-resistant semi-non-combustible core material performance. By applying LG Hausys's semi-non-combustible special-formulation technology to the existing PF insulation manufacturing process, it succeeded in developing a semi-non-combustible core material product.
LG Hausys had the semi-non-combustible performance of the entire surface of its PF insulation product verified as compliant by the accredited testing agency KCL, and separately obtained compliance verification for the semi-non-combustible performance of the internal core material as well. A KCL official said, "LG Hausys's PF insulation product properly passed the semi-non-combustible performance tests according to the national standard cone calorimeter test (KS F ISO 5660-1) method for both the entire surface and the core material." In addition, Cho Dae-young, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Hausys's Decorative Materials Business Division, said, "The fact is that, until now, due to technical limitations, there has been no case of domestic organic building insulation material satisfying both a thermal conductivity of 0.020 W/m·k-level insulation performance and semi-non-combustible core material performance," adding, "LG Hausys's semi-non-combustible core PF insulation is the first domestic organic insulation product to satisfy both simultaneously, and we will continue to lead the market through the development of new technologies for the safety of the people and the expanded distribution of products."
Meanwhile, LG Hausys entered the high-performance insulation market by starting mass production of PF insulation for the first time in Korea in October 2013; after successively expanding its No. 2 line in May 2018 and its No. 3 line in May 2020, it is currently expanding its No. 4 line, targeting operation in the second quarter of next year. 080-005-4000
