Tests prove a noise-reduction effect of 18 decibels

Sandeulmaru has obtained a patent for a manufacturing method for inter-floor noise-reduction flooring boards, as well as for the flooring boards and boards produced with it, and has drawn industry attention by using this patented technology to launch the Suomi cork laminate flooring 'Goyo.'

The Suomi cork laminate flooring 'Goyo' features a cork layer inserted between the flooring boards to prevent impact and noise, and it has been well received by consumers amid the recent surge in complaints caused by inter-floor noise. In fact, testing by the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL) confirmed that Suomi 'Goyo' reduces noise by as much as 18 decibels, and its use is expanding across a variety of spaces—not only apartments, villas, and other multi-unit housing, but also libraries, exhibition halls, and other settings that require quietness.

In particular, the cork used in Suomi 'Goyo' offers: ▲excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing thanks to its low conductivity of heat, sound, and vibration; ▲elasticity and resilience that keep its volume unchanged despite variations in temperature or pressure; ▲lightness—more than 50% of its volume is filled with air, so it can float on water; ▲impermeability that prevents the passage of liquids and gases; ▲fire retardancy, burning without a flame and releasing no toxic gases; ▲hypoallergenic properties that resist dust absorption to help prevent allergies and asthma; and ▲strong resistance to impact and friction. As a result, it not only reduces inter-floor noise and provides a comfortable walking feel, but also improves energy efficiency and blocks external impacts.

Sandeulmaru CEO Wang Young-deuk said, "With people spending more time indoors due to COVID-19 recently, complaints caused by inter-floor noise have increased significantly, and regulations on inter-floor noise in multi-unit housing are set to be strengthened. In line with this trend of the times, we sought to develop a differentiated product and ended up developing flooring that incorporates cork," adding, "Since obtaining the patent, inquiries from construction companies and consumers have continued steadily."

In addition, Sandeulmaru obtained Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute for Suomi flooring (12T, 15T, 7.5T), laminate flooring (7.5T), wooden parquet floorboards, and interior floor finishing materials, and recently also obtained Low-Carbon certification for its parquet floorboards, once again proving that its products are eco-friendly. EPD certification is a system that quantitatively indicates the environmental impact of a product across its entire life cycle—from raw material extraction to production, distribution, use, and disposal—in order to enhance the product's environmental performance. Low-Carbon certification is a system that provides additional certification for EPD-certified products that meet the notified criteria for low-carbon products; it is an eco-friendly certification granted to products whose carbon emissions are below the average for similar products, or which apply low-carbon technology to reduce emissions by 4.24% or more compared with previous levels. Beyond this, Sandeulmaru has unveiled 'Wave,' a synchronized-embossed laminate flooring, and obtained a core-technology patent for manufacturing synchronized-embossed flooring. Demand for synchronized-embossed laminate flooring has recently increased greatly, as it delivers excellent texture by precisely aligning the wood grain pattern with the emboss grain. Sandeulmaru currently holds patents for a 'method of manufacturing a panel to which a synthetic resin sheet in the form of natural veneer is attached,' a 'method of manufacturing an HPL sheet in which the pattern of the decor paper is expressed protruding outward,' and a 'method of manufacturing an HPL sheet,' and it plans to launch a new third-generation synchronized-embossed laminate flooring product with even more natural knots and wood grain in the future.

Product range expanded with the launch of premium wood flooring 'Naru'
