The 'Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method (OSP)' is drawing attention as a new paradigm for bathrooms.

The Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method (OSP) developed by Sky System Co., Ltd. is an innovative construction technology that mounts the toilet on the inside of the wall without drilling into or burying pipes in the bathroom floor. It solves the inter-floor bathroom noise and the inefficient inspection and repair issues that arise with conventional below-floor piping, and can be used effectively to resolve the inter-household floor-noise disputes that have recently emerged as a social problem.

The same-floor piping method, which installs the bathroom's sewage and drainage piping on the wall of the current floor, is a wall-piping approach that positions the sewage and drainage pipes inside a shelf-type wall and connects them to the vertical riser via exposed piping above the slab—and it has also received new-technology certification. Jeon Young-se, CEO of Sky System, explained, "The Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method was developed in 2013 and drew attention when it was applied to Godeok Raemian Hills State, a large-scale reconstruction complex in Gangdong, Seoul, jointly completed by Samsung and Hyundai." He added, "Since then, its stability has been recognized through a considerable period of verification via countless on-site applications, and with the ongoing controversy over inter-floor noise, we are seeing a growing shift in public perception of the Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method."

In particular, Sky System's Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method also differs from the floor-embedded approach that has recently been used to prevent inter-floor noise by burying dedicated piping materials in the floor. Simple same-floor piping installs the bathroom piping in the current floor, and while it is effective at blocking noise compared with the conventional below-floor piping method, repairs are difficult and costly when a problem occurs with the embedded piping.

By contrast, the wall-piping method builds a shelf on the bathroom wall and runs the sewage and drainage pipes exposed within it, without drilling holes into the lower floor or embedding pipes below the concrete floor between the upper and lower apartment floors. Because the lower-floor slab is not drilled during piping work, no separate structural work is required, and the exposed, integrated piping makes pipe replacement and maintenance extremely simple. In addition, the wall-hung toilet applied together with it maintains a clean and hygienic bathroom alongside a luxurious bathroom interior, improving the living environment. Sky System has adopted the wall-hung toilet of the Geberit Group, the world-leading player in the European market for sanitary products. The wall-hung toilet resolves the drawbacks of conventional floor-mounted toilets, keeping the floor hygienic and clean at all times, and allows interior styling in both dry and wet settings.

Beyond this, the Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method is recognized as a core technology for long-life housing certification, optimally meeting the concept of 100-year residency. Under the current Housing Act, apartment complexes of 1,000 households or more must obtain at least the general grade of long-life housing certification when built, and incentives are provided to promote it. The Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method offers outstanding utility as it complies with the Green Building Certification System, the Apartment Housing Performance Grade Indication System, the special provisions for structures that are easy to remodel, and the Long-Life Housing Certification System.

Sky System explained, "Our management goal is to improve the quality of life in the residential sector—through our Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping technology—by resolving inter-floor bathroom noise, enhancing the convenience of easy repairs, and realizing a hygienic bathroom environment, and, at the national level, to dramatically extend the lifespan of housing, thereby reducing the carbon emissions from reconstruction that have become a problem for all of humanity."

As a technology well suited to the residential market, the Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method has so far been installed mainly in apartments, and it can also be applied to luxury villas, detached houses, and more. Installed in renowned domestic apartments and premium residential-commercial complexes, the Wall-Mounted Same-Floor Piping Method has been applied to 40,000 locations over five years and is currently being incorporated at 100,000 locations. Accordingly, Sky System operates a separate service division and guarantees professional after-sales (A/S) service for its wall-hung toilet systems and flush buttons. 02-3462-5861
