KD Wood Tech has newly unveiled its 2023 carbonized-wood product 'Rombo Siding' along with the brushed lines of the 'Pyramid Solid-Wood Louver' and 'Silica-Treated Cedar Siding.'
Western red cedar and carbonized wood are the most commonly used materials for the wood siding that finishes the interior and exterior of buildings. Recently, as the use of construction timber that helps prevent global warming and reduce carbon emissions continues to expand, interest in carbonized wood has been growing. In response, KD Wood Tech has introduced its new carbonized-wood product, 'Rombo Siding.'
The new product is 'Rombo Siding' from KD Rib, a carbonized-wood brand that applies new technology allowing timber to be used outdoors with confidence. Manufactured at a thickness of 28 mm, it creates a more substantial and distinctive appearance. In particular, 'KD Rib' improves the bending and deformation properties inherent in ordinary timber by more than 90%, making it widely used not only for building remodeling but also for interior art walls, and it is characterized by eco-friendly performance and beautiful exterior design. The newly released 'Rombo Siding' is a siding of maximum thickness and maximum width, using thick, wide pine boards. With a design that reinterprets tradition, it adopts a design that integrates the Board & Batten method (windproof boards and battens on the sides of a gable roof) and features a hard-brushed surface that expresses the vintage texture of timber more than 100 years old. In addition, by carbonizing Russian red pine boards, a rich pine resin fragrance lingers throughout the installation space for a long time, creating an even more eco-friendly environment. The new carbonized-wood product 'Rombo Siding' comes in three finishes—▲Black ▲Gold Brown ▲Natural—and has a product size of 28×200×3600 mm.
For 'Silica-Treated Cedar Siding,' the company has newly unveiled the further-evolved brushed product, 'Silica-Treated Cedar Channel Siding.' Made from carefully selected species and finished with brushing after design processing, 'Silica-Treated Cedar Channel Siding' allows you to feel an even more vivid wood grain, and its milky silica treatment over a natural color gradually changes to a silvery gray, completing a building with distinctive character. The silica agent is made from silicon dioxide extracted from sand, and as a water-soluble liquid that is harmless to the human body, it offers the advantage of requiring no maintenance for at least 15 years. The product size is 17×145×3000–4000 mm.
In addition, the natural solid-wood 'Pyramid Solid-Wood Louver' is a premium product released in three species—▲Ash Natural ▲Ash Carbonized ▲Oak Natural—broadening the range of choices, with a size of 30×120×2400 mm. Environmentally conscious, KD Wood Tech's solid-wood louvers use timber that is legally forested and distributed from planned forests, and the solid wood used for the louvers is exclusively AA-grade timber with almost no color difference between heartwood and sapwood and no knots.
A KD Wood Tech official said, "The new timber products launched in 2023 are eco-friendly while reflecting the latest trends in their design, which will further enhance the dignity of buildings," adding, "Going forward, our company will continue to propose healthy and beautiful architectural spaces and take the lead in developing timber building materials that contribute to protecting the global environment."
Meanwhile, visitors to the KD Wood Tech showroom located in Songpa-gu can see the new products as well as a variety of timber products in person. 02-3401-5525
