Kyungdong Navien has launched the ‘NAVIEN Condensing ON AI,’ a new condensing boiler and the start of a new era of hot-water appliances, signaling a paradigm shift in the boiler market.
The newly launched ‘NAVIEN Condensing ON AI’ is a product that expands the scope of the boiler—long perceived as heating equipment—to a new level in line with customers’ lifestyles. Recently, as building insulation performance has improved and individual heating devices such as heated mats have come into use, the utilization of the boiler’s primary heating function has gradually declined. Meanwhile, reflecting the fact that the hot-water function is used more frequently throughout the year for a refreshing day, the boiler has been transformed into a customized appliance that provides customers with optimal hot water as well as heating.
Kyungdong Navien has combined its condensing technology with its hot-water technology. The product name intensively captures the direction of the new change Kyungdong Navien is pursuing, incorporating two meanings—‘On (溫),’ meaning hot water, and ‘ON,’ signifying the switching on of a new boiler era—along with artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Hot-water performance has been greatly enhanced compared to conventional boilers. It breaks away from notions that had been accepted as ‘just the way things are,’ such as the inconvenience of waiting for the cold water in the pipes to run out even after turning on the tap, or the problem of temperatures fluctuating when water is used in several places at once. By delivering abundant flow and consistent temperature control, hot water can be used quickly. The criterion for choosing a boiler has also shifted from heating capacity to the number of bathrooms, allowing customers to make an intuitive choice based on their hot-water usage. In addition, a turbo pump increases the amount of hot water by about 6 liters during a 10-minute shower, enabling abundant hot-water use, and a mixing valve maintains a consistent hot-water temperature—another advantage.
Furthermore, the fact that the product continuously evolves through wireless firmware updates is a factor that greatly differentiates it from conventional boiler products. Unlike existing products, which had to be used with the same functions after installation, this product evolves to fit the customer’s life through updates. It also helps customers use the product more conveniently through a variety of AI functions, such as an HEMS report that learns hot-water and heating usage patterns and provides monthly information to customers, and a smart diagnosis service that lets customers check boiler problems at a glance on their own. In particular, it implements a ‘Quick Hot Water Smart Operation function’ that learns and analyzes hot-water usage patterns to prepare hot water in line with the customer’s lifestyle, and it became the industry’s first to obtain AI+ certification from the Korean Standards Association (KSA).
The indoor thermostat (room controller) used to operate the boiler has also been differentiated from conventional boilers. Not only can information be checked more clearly on the 4.3-inch display, but a welcome mode—which turns the brightness to maximum simply when you approach the thermostat—enables even more convenient use. On top of this, its sophisticated design won the German Red Dot Award, one of the world’s three major design awards. 1588-1144
