Signify Korea, the independent Korean subsidiary of global lighting company Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), is launching its smart lighting brand ‘WiZ’ and moving to expand its presence in the domestic smart lighting market.
Signify Korea plans to broaden its lineup of lighting incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technology and aggressively target smart home demand. Signify Korea introduced a range of new product lines, including ▲the WiZ HDMI Sync Box TV Light Strip ▲the WiZ RGB LED Strip 15m ▲the WiZ RGBIC LED Strip 5m ▲the WiZ Gradient Floor ▲and the WiZ Dial Switch. The ‘WiZ’ brand is a Wi-Fi-based smart lighting solution used by some 1.72 million households across more than 60 countries worldwide. The solution is characterized by the ability to create a variety of lighting effects and personalized settings through the WiZ smartphone app. In particular, the ‘WiZ HDMI Sync Box TV Light Strip,’ the flagship among the new products, is a kit comprising both a sync box and a light strip, and this single product alone can transform a space in the home into an immersive leisure area such as a movie theater or gaming room. Connecting to devices based on ‘HDMI (a digital interface standard that transmits high-resolution video and audio over a single cable) 2.0,’ it reads the video source directly to support 4K 60Hz, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, matching the TV screen and WiZ lighting without lag. It also responds to the rhythm of music via a built-in microphone. In addition, the ‘RGB LED Strip 15m’ and ‘RGBIC LED Strip 5m,’ launched alongside it, can both be cut to the desired length as needed for easy installation, and offer 16 million colors and a variety of preset modes so they can be freely styled in various spaces such as living rooms, bedrooms, and gaming rooms. The new products launched this time support custom scene settings, scheduling functions, and more through the WiZ app, and thanks to Matter certification they can be widely integrated with various smart home devices such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.
Hong Yu-jin, a director at Signify, said, “The new products unveiled in the second half of this year showcase the new direction for the smart home that WiZ is presenting,” adding, “We will continue to deliver innovative experiences that enrich living spaces through smart lighting.”
