Text, images, and video can be displayed on the LED glass, enabling applications across a wide range of fields
P2SG Global has jointly developed 'New Media Glass,' a transparent-display building material, together with PPSG (peter platz spezialglass GmbH), a German glass specialist.
P2SG Global's new product 'New Media Glass' is a cutting-edge architectural glass product that bonds glass and lighting fixtures using semiconductor technology. Its distinctive feature is that wireless light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are embedded in electrically conductive glass, creating a mysterious atmosphere in which the light appears to float in mid-air. 'New Media Glass' applies domestically patented technology that does away entirely with the flexible cable (FLEXIBLE PCB, FPCB), printed circuit board (PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD, PCB), and subcontroller (subcontrol, SCU)—the very components that had been the weak points of transparent-display devices—and instead uses Addressable Smart LEDs to form a current loop in the transparent circuit and control it in series, safely processing data with just a single cable. As a result, 'New Media Glass' is completely unaffected by external temperature or humidity, making it a semi-permanent product that requires no repairs or maintenance, with the advantage of being installable outdoors. In addition, whereas existing similar products required a separate dedicated frame to be designed according to the installation location and shape and could only be installed by relevant specialists, 'New Media Glass' eliminates the inconvenience of a dedicated frame, allowing anyone to easily install it on existing buildings or on facilities with complex structures.
A P2SG Global official explained, "New Media Glass overcomes the limitations of a dedicated frame structure and specialist installation, while its price has also been dramatically lowered, and it is as easy to handle as ordinary glass. Its resolution has also improved more than fourfold over existing products, enabling more vivid images to be delivered through the LEDs and transparent display."
With 'New Media Glass,' the wireless LEDs glowing inside the glass can adjust their light without obstructing views inside or outside, so they can draw the attention of many people without spoiling the surrounding scenery. In particular, because text, images, video, and more can be displayed on the transparent LED glass, it can be applied across a wide range of fields—not only as exterior cladding for large buildings, but also on doors, windows, building façade glass, and even interior décor items. Interior décor items include digital clocks, clocks, tables, canopies, and chandeliers, and custom production is also possible according to the specifications and designs that consumers want.
Since 'New Media Glass' can maximize both the beauty of a building or store interior and a variety of promotional effects, it is even more effective when applied to places that need a focal point, such as exhibition spaces or lobbies. When installed on a door, various displays are possible within the glass, such as a company logo, sliding text, or a greeting video, and because the lighting and sound can be automatically adjusted each time the door opens and closes, consumer satisfaction is high.
Beyond this, 'New Media Glass' has high utility in the disaster-safety field. In February of last year the company registered domestic patents for a media automatic door and a disaster-safety elevator door, and in August and October of this year it also registered Chinese patents for each, respectively. P2SG Global stated, "Through the development of our new product New Media Glass, we have overcome the structural limitation of high cost and low efficiency inherent in existing products. We plan to actively apply it across various industrial fields as an innovative high-tech product that leads architectural exterior trends, as well as in urban landscaping."
Meanwhile, P2SG Global installed a media wall (6 × 2.34 m) using its new product 'New Media Glass' at the Kori Nuclear Power PR Center located in Gijang, Busan, drawing the attention of visitors and receiving a favorable response. 02-521-0260
