Hansol Homedeco (CEO Kim Kyung-rok) has launched its new ‘Hansol Storyboard’ product, a board for furniture doors that determines the design and eco-friendliness of furniture.

‘Storyboard’ is a processed board made by bonding materials that are harmless to the human body—such as PET, PP, LPM, and ASA—onto the surface of E0-grade eco-friendly MDF board produced in-house by Hansol Homedeco, and it is mainly used for the doors of built-in wardrobes and kitchen furniture. The newly launched ‘Storyboard’ comes in a total of 49 patterns, comprising △PET Premium, which reproduces the textures of stone and leather; △UNICOLOR PET Special, which adds antibacterial and anti-fingerprint functions; and △UNICOLOR PET Original, which continues to enjoy steady popularity.

First, ‘PET Premium’ consists of stone, leather, and metal design lines, and is characterized by its embossed patterns that realistically render the actual textures of stone and leather. ‘UNICOLOR PET’ consists of ‘Special’ and ‘Original.’ ‘Special’ is a product that reflects trends related to COVID-19, adding antibacterial and anti-fingerprint functions. The antibacterial function has the effect of killing 99.9% of bacteria and staphylococcus, while the anti-fingerprint function prevents contamination caused by oils and fingerprints from the human body. ‘Original’ applies trendy yet diverse colors—including recently popular neutral colors—based on white, gray, and black as its base colors. It also adds low-saturation colors such as greige, a mid-tone between gray and beige, as well as rosy pink, cotton blue, and mist green, which create a sophisticated atmosphere. In addition, it presents products that realize a variety of surface textures, such as glossy high-gloss and super matte, which is even more matte than standard matte finishes.

Furthermore, the ‘PET’ product uses PET, an eco-friendly finishing material, on an eco-friendly dedicated board produced in-house by Hansol Homedeco, making it an eco-friendly product both inside and out. In particular, ‘PET’ bonds an eco-friendly material—the same used in children’s milk bottles and water bottles—onto the surface of furniture doors, so it can be used with peace of mind.

When Hansol Homedeco first introduced Storyboard in 2017, it sold 40,000 units annually, but in 2020 it recorded sales of 600,000 units, achieving the remarkable result of an average annual growth rate of 150%. This rapid growth of ‘Storyboard’ has been supported by the eco-friendliness and quality built on Hansol Homedeco’s own one-stop PET-dedicated facilities and specialized technical expertise. ‘Storyboard’ is produced through a one-stop process—from dedicated board manufacturing to back-side processing, surface processing, and furniture door production—which is the only such system in Korea. This one-stop system minimizes the quality-degradation factors that occur during the movement between each process and shortens lead times, enabling products to be supplied to customers quickly. In addition, LPM, which is highly resistant to scratches, is applied to the back of ‘Storyboard,’ and high-heat processing minimizes the defect rate during furniture production, thereby increasing productivity.

Lee Dong-eun, director of Hansol Homedeco’s Processing Business Division, stated, “By quickly detecting changes in the market, we succeeded in moving beyond the first stage of simply manufacturing and distributing MDF and transitioning into the processed board business through differentiation across various areas such as products, distribution, and promotion,” adding, “Amid the COVID-19 crisis, we will further strengthen our untact marketing to further enhance the brand value of Storyboard.” 080-777-2299
