Heerim Architects & Planners has partnered with Wallbed Italia, a leading Italian smart-living brand, to unveil 'mio,' an innovative smart furniture system that transforms in various ways according to the user's lifestyle and space usage.
'mio' means 'my' or 'my own' in Italian, conveying the idea of creating and using a space that is uniquely yours. 'Smart furniture' integrates walls and furniture, and is regarded as a customized solution that can deliver a variety of functions—such as a bedroom, living room, or study—within a limited area, ideal for urban environments where living space is increasingly cramped. Lim Yu-jin, Senior Designer of Heerim's Residential Interior Division, explained, "The mio smart furniture is designed to be used for multiple purposes even in small spaces," adding, "It can be adapted to suit a range of lifestyles, whether as a children's playroom or an exercise area."
The flagship products come in two types: the 'City' type, a vertical bed (vertical bed + desk), and the 'Space' type, a horizontal bed (horizontal bed + desk). Characterized by a simple, linear design, the mechanism is completely concealed and a safety lock is built into the interior of the structure. The bed can be opened and closed easily and conveniently with the help of a gas piston, and its efficient use of space allows for a variety of lifestyle arrangements. In addition, the 'Holiday' type, which combines a vertical double bed with a sofa, is a sophisticated, modern vertical bed with interior shelving that maximizes storage convenience. The slide sofa features a transformable system, and its sliding mechanism allows the bed to be opened without removing the sofa backrest. It can be used as a comfortable sofa while simultaneously serving as a container with two large drawers, and the cover can be completely detached. Beyond these, the smart table, which combines a folding table with a bookshelf, can be opened and closed with a simple operation and offers versatile use of space. Beside the table is an open-top storage area, with an electrical outlet provided inside the storage space for using electronic devices.
A Heerim representative said, "mio is designed to be lightweight and easy to use, so it will be able to meet a wide range of customer needs," adding, "We will continue to introduce a variety of products that consider spatial flexibility and sustainability, providing a smart living environment."
Meanwhile, Heerim plans to target the B2B market first with its 'mio' smart furniture. It intends to collaborate with construction companies to apply the smart furniture in model houses and premium residential facilities, and then gradually expand into the B2C market. 02-3410-9000
