Hanssem Holds Grand Opening of ‘Design Park Mapo’ and Unveils Its First ‘Digital Living Portal Store’

Hanssem Co., Ltd. (Chairman and CEO Kang Seung-soo), a comprehensive home interior specialist, has opened ‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo,’ a large-scale total home interior store that brings together all of the diverse digital capabilities Hanssem has been showcasing in the home interior field.

‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo’ is located in the commercial district near Mapo Station on Seoul Subway Line 5. Spanning from the first basement level to the third floor, it is a total home interior store measuring 3,246㎡ (about 982 pyeong) where customers can experience Hanssem’s kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, and household goods all in one place.

Another notable feature is that this is the first collaborative store jointly planned by Hanssem and Samsung Electronics following the MOU the two companies signed in September 2020. As a ‘Digital Living Portal Store,’ it allows customers to explore everything related to furniture and home appliances in a single location.

‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo’ has been designed as a digital experience-based store, featuring a variety of experience zones incorporating digital technology that let visiting customers virtually experience the information they need for home interior projects. Through this digital technology, Hanssem aimed to overcome the limitations of the confined space of an offline store and expand it into an infinite space.

First, in the room-by-room furniture package spaces of ‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo’ — such as bedrooms, living rooms, children’s rooms, and studies — customers can encounter the ‘Lifestyle Plan Zone,’ which recreates the actual displays identically in VR. By directly touching the display in the ‘Lifestyle Plan Zone,’ customers can change the arrangement and color of furniture, making it easy to conceptualize their home interior plans. In addition, the △Digital Storage Specialty Zone, △Digital Sofa Specialty Zone, and △Digital Mattress Experience Zone provide information on the materials and products of each Hanssem furniture piece through screens, audio, and video, so customers can easily obtain information about Hanssem furniture without a face-to-face consultation with a salesperson.

On the third floor, where the Hanssem ‘Kitchen & Bath’ store is located, the highlight is the ‘Kitchen Coloring Zone,’ which lets customers virtually preview and decide on the tiles to be applied to their kitchen walls. Tiles are one of the hardest items to decide on for customers considering a kitchen purchase, but in the ‘Kitchen Coloring Zone’ they can freely try out and select the tiles that best suit their home.

In addition, Hanssem operates a ‘VR Studio’ that recreates Hanssem ‘Kitchen & Bath’ showrooms nationwide in VR (Virtual Reality), allowing customers to browse all of Hanssem’s kitchen and bathroom products. It also offers various digital experience spaces, including a contactless ‘Smart Kiosk’ and a ‘Sample Scanner’ that displays product information when customers touch one of Hanssem’s various kitchen door samples, providing a distinctive experience and information to customers planning their home interiors.

Additionally, at ‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo,’ customers can receive customized 3D design consultations using Hanssem’s 3D design consultation program ‘Home Planner 2.0’ from kitchen and bathroom design experts known as KDs (Kitchen Designers) and furniture space design experts known as SCs (Space Coordinators).

Hanssem’s ‘Home Planner 2.0’ holds a 3D floor plan database of some 50,000 apartments nationwide, including apartments near the Mapo store’s commercial district. Hanssem’s KDs and SCs render the customer’s apartment floor plan in 3D and provide a consultation service that offers a virtual-reality preview of how the home would look after being transformed with Hanssem.

‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo’ is the first store that Hanssem and Samsung Electronics have unveiled as part of their retail sales-linked business cooperation. Rather than taking the form of a ‘shop-in-shop’ within an existing store, the two companies jointly planned everything from the store location to the internal shared display layout. On the first basement level, a Samsung Electronics home appliance store is located alongside Hanssem’s household goods hall, while on the first floor above ground, Samsung Electronics’ BESPOKE Series Zone and Mobile Zone are set up alongside Hanssem’s ‘Interior Furniture Hall.’

In home interiors, furniture and home appliances have a close, inseparable interrelationship. ‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo’ and ‘Samsung Digital Plaza Mapo Main Store,’ opened through the two companies’ cooperation, can provide customized home interiors that take function, spatial usability, and design into account when purchasing furniture and appliances, making them true furniture-appliance convergence stores.

To celebrate the opening of ‘Hanssem Design Park Mapo,’ Hanssem has prepared a variety of events. First, it is holding a visitor gift event that presents items such as ‘kitchen towels’ and ‘hand cream’ to customers who visit the store for consultations and estimates. In the ‘Interior Furniture Hall,’ customers can find a Mapo store-exclusive furniture discount event offering up to 96% off on a total of six popular Hanssem furniture items, including the ‘Geo Brown Bed’ and ‘Euro 502 Dining Table.’ Gifts are also provided according to the purchase amount — for example, an air purifier is given to customers who spend more than 5 million won, and a ‘Fissler Pot Set’ to those who spend more than 3 million won.

At the ‘Kitchen & Bath’ hall on the third floor, customers who receive consultations on Hanssem’s kitchen and bathroom products and book an on-site measurement are given a ‘Hanssem Household Goods Raffle Ticket’ for a chance to win items such as a ‘Hanssem Bathroom Cleaner’ or ‘Hanssem Index Cutting Board.’ In addition, discount events are held according to the purchase amount — for example, customers who sign a contract for Hanssem’s kitchen and bathroom products worth more than 15 million won receive a 1.5 million won discount, while those who spend more than 10 million won receive an 800,000 won discount.

Kim Yong-ha, Executive Vice President of Hanssem’s Interior Business Division, said, “Hanssem Design Park Mapo is a store that expands the display limits of offline stores, offering a variety of digital experience-based home interior services within Hanssem’s premium display spaces.” He added, “Moreover, as the first store jointly planned by Hanssem, the No. 1 home interior company in Korea, and Samsung Electronics, the world’s leading home appliance company, we will provide the best consultations and benefits to customers who wish to decorate their home interiors with both furniture and appliances.”
