Kiturami, an Industry First Among Boiler Makers

Gas Leak Detectors, Gas Boilers and More

Kiturami Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Hak-soo) announced that its gas boiler products, which feature a built-in dual safety system consisting of a gas leak detector and an earthquake detector, have earned the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's ‘Disaster Safety Product Certification.’

The products that received the Disaster Safety Product Certification are four popular gas boiler models: △ Geokkuro NEW Condensing Plus, △ Geokkuro NEW Condensing L10, △ Geokkuro ECO Condensing L11, and △ Twin Alpha ECO L10.

Since the mid-to-late 1990s, when earthquake-response safety technology was still unfamiliar, Kiturami has been the only company in the boiler industry to apply a dual safety system comprising an earthquake detector and a gas leak detector to its gas boilers. The dual safety system applied to Kiturami boilers is a technology that detects natural disasters and safety accidents in advance and stops boiler operation. △ If gas leaks inside the boiler, the gas leak detector halts boiler operation and notifies the user of the gas leak. △ When the earthquake detector senses strong vibrations from an earthquake or nearby construction, it stops boiler operation to prevent secondary damage such as explosion or fire. In particular, when a strong external shock such as an earthquake occurs, not only the boiler itself but also the gas pipes and flue connected to it can become detached or damaged. If the boiler does not stop operating at that point, exhaust gas or raw gas can leak, becoming a major cause of serious secondary safety accidents such as carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning or fire. To further enhance the completeness of its dual safety system, Kiturami continues its research and development into safety technology, including △ upgrading the earthquake detector from a vibration-switch type to an acceleration-sensor type, and △ improving the performance of the semiconductor sensor that detects gas leaks.

An official from Kiturami Boiler said, “Based on our safety-first principle, we are continuously upgrading disaster safety technology so that consumers can use our products with peace of mind even in the face of unexpected disasters and accidents,” adding, “Since all of the products selected as disaster safety products combine outstanding performance with energy efficiency, we hope that households considering replacing an aging boiler will choose Kiturami Boiler and enjoy a safe and warm daily life.”
