Jaehyun Intex Co., Ltd. co-hosts the event with Habitat for Humanity Korea and singer Sean

A total of KRW 1,537,940,000 to support homes for the descendants of independence patriots

Jaehyun Intex Co., Ltd. (hereinafter Jaehyun Haneulchang), a specialized brand for interior and interior/exterior finishing materials, has steadily sponsored Habitat for Humanity Korea for the seventh consecutive year, and took part in an event to support independence patriots together with singer Sean in commemoration of National Liberation Day on August 15, 2023.

Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international non-profit organization for housing welfare, together with campaign ambassador and singer Sean, successfully wrapped up the '2023 815 Run' to mark National Liberation Day (August 15), raising a total of some KRW 1.5 billion in donations.

The 815 Run is a campaign that reflects on gratitude toward independence patriots and conveys the positive message, 'You'll be all right, Korea!' It is a charity marathon in which participants run a set distance (3.1 km, 4.5 km, or 8.15 km) at the time and place of their choosing on National Liberation Day, with all of the registration fees going toward a project to improve the housing environment of the descendants of independence patriots. This year in particular drew great interest, recruiting a record-high 8,150 individual participants in just 10 days.

At the 815 Run, which began in 2020 and was held for the fourth time this year, Sean completed 81.5 km in 7 hours, 49 minutes and 47 seconds despite a heat wave approaching 32 degrees. Forty-five pacers were divided into groups of five to run alongside Sean, and members of the running crew 'Unknown Crew'—including former national football team players Lee Young-pyo and Cho Won-hee, actor and singer Im Si-wan, and actors Yoon Se-ah and Lim Se-mi—joined in to add meaning to the occasion. The 815 offline runners selected by lottery from among the individual participants ran 8.15 km with Sean at World Cup Park, celebrating a special National Liberation Day.

The total of KRW 1,537,944,302—combining donations from 53 sponsoring companies besides Jaehyun Haneulchang with the registration fees of 8,150 individual participants—will be used to support comfortable and safe homes for the descendants of independence patriots.

Sean shared his thoughts, saying, "Since 2020, I have safely completed 81.5 km every National Liberation Day, writing a very long letter of gratitude to the independence patriots and their descendants," adding, "Thanks to the 815 offline runners who ran with me today, as well as the 8,150 runners who joined from all across the country, I am delighted to be able to convey my gratitude to the independence patriots."

As of August 2023, with funds raised through the 2020–2022 815 Runs, homes have been dedicated starting with House No. 1 in Hwasun, South Jeolla Province, followed by House No. 2 in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province; House No. 3 in Cheongyang, South Chungcheong Province; House No. 4 in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province; House No. 5 in Ulsan; House No. 6 in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province; House No. 7 in Cheongsong, North Gyeongsang Province; and House No. 8 in Gurye, South Jeolla Province, with House No. 9 in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, soon to be dedicated.

Through the four 815 Runs from 2020 to 2023, approximately 17,000 runners from home and abroad, 170 pacers, and 215 sponsoring companies have taken part, raising some KRW 3.8 billion in funds.

An official from Jaehyun Haneulchang shared his reflections, saying, "We hope that this meaningful event to provide homes for the descendants of independence patriots brings them greater comfort and courage. Looking at the participants gathered in T-shirts bearing the phrase 'You'll be all right, Korea,' this became an occasion for sponsoring companies to serve society and a good opportunity for the company to move forward even further," and pledged, "We will devote ourselves to further elevating the value and identity of the nature-friendly 'Jaehyun Haneulchang' brand that contributes to society, and will provide even more diverse support going forward."
