Submit reflection essays and space-improvement ideas after visiting a memorial facility
Until August 31; total of 18.2 million won in prizes for 33 recipients
LG Hausys (CEO Min Kyung-jip), together with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, is holding the “4th Nara Sarang Space-Sharing Idea Competition” through August 31.
The “Nara Sarang Space-Sharing Idea Competition” is part of the patriotic social-contribution activities that LG Hausys has been carrying out since 2016, launched to raise interest in memorial facilities and to inspire patriotism. To take part, entrants visit a memorial facility designated by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and submit either a reflection essay on their impressions or an improvement idea that could turn the memorial facility into a more meaningful space via the competition’s entry website.
Entries are accepted in three divisions: the elementary division (grades 4–6), the youth division (middle and high school students), and the general division (university students and members of the public). Unlike the previous competition, in which only elementary, middle, and high school students could participate, this year eligibility has been expanded to university students and the general public, allowing anyone interested in the competition to take part.
Awards will be given to a total of 33 recipients — in each of the elementary, youth, and general divisions, one Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Award, 2–4 Gold Awards, and 6–8 Silver Awards — with a total of 18.2 million won in prize money and certificates bearing the Minister’s endorsement. Winning entries will be selected through a fair expert review process, and some of the ideas chosen as winners are scheduled to be applied to actual improvements of veterans’ facility spaces.
Submissions and inquiries can be made through the competition’s website, The Contest (thecontest.co.kr), and the LG Hausys website (www.lghausys.co.kr). Winners will be notified individually and announced on the website on September 9.
Alongside this competition, LG Hausys is also running a memorial-facility visit photo-verification event. After following LG Hausys’s official social media accounts, participants take a photo verifying their visit to a memorial facility and post it on their personal social media with the required hashtags to complete their entry. Through an internal review, generous prizes will be awarded, including the LG CordZero A9 (1 recipient), the LG Pra.L Mask (2 recipients), and Starbucks Americano gift vouchers (100 recipients).
An LG Hausys official said, “With the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement and the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, we hope this will be an opportunity for people to visit memorial facilities in person and be inspired with patriotism,” adding, “As a leading domestic building-materials company, LG Hausys will continue to devote itself to patriotic social-contribution activities through space sharing.”
Meanwhile, LG Hausys has continued its active patriotic social-contribution activities, carrying out efforts to improve the living environments of Korean War veterans since 2016 and, this past March, supporting facility renovation work at the Simsan Kim Chang-sook Memorial Hall.
