Noroo Paint Completes Mural Work
Busan One Asia Festival
Noroo Paint took part in an urban regeneration project through a collaboration with the 2021 Busan One Asia Festival (hereinafter BOF), Asia's leading Korean Wave (Hallyu) festival.
Hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the Busan Tourism Organization, ‘B-ART’—one of the programs of the BOF event—is an urban regeneration project whose roles include discovering new young artists as well as transforming culturally neglected areas into landmarks.
For this project, mural work was carried out together by artist Kim Chung-jae, the nation's beloved “art-school oppa,” illustrator Seopseop, and 10 young artists. The places newly transformed by the murals are the walls of Art District P in the Geumsa Industrial Complex in Busan and the walls of Neulpureun Apartment in Bugok-dong.
Noroo Paint provided the base preparation work to enhance the completeness of the mural artworks, along with its ‘Pantone Paint for Exterior Use’ product. The Pantone Paint exterior product shows almost no deterioration or discoloration despite the climate changes of all four seasons, and can faithfully reproduce more than 2,600 PANTONE colors, including high-chroma shades. Artist Kim Chung-jae and the other artists who actually took part in the mural work were impressed by the color rendering and quick drying time of Pantone Paint.
The full video of the mural process and its behind-the-scenes story can be found on the ‘Paint It Suda’ YouTube channel.
Kim Chung-jae, who served as the project's general director, said he hopes that this project can convey a message of hope and positivity amid the special circumstances of COVID-19, and that it will serve as an occasion for young artists to receive greater attention.
Noroo Paint said it hopes that these murals—adding art to the urban landscape and conveying hope—will bring positivity and vitality not only to the citizens of Busan but also to Hallyu fans around the world online, and that it plans to continue its social contribution activities for urban regeneration going forward.
