LEDVANCE Joins the ‘UN Global Compact’

LEDVANCE has joined the ‘UN Global Compact (UNGC),’ an international agreement on corporate social responsibility.

Accordingly, LEDVANCE plans to demonstrate its standing as a socially responsible company by upholding human rights protection, respect for labor, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, together with some 9,800 companies across 164 countries.

Jacob Tan, Global CEO of LEDVANCE, emphasized, “LEDVANCE has always strived for environmental protection and maximum efficiency by developing highly energy-efficient, long-lasting LED lighting,” and added, “As an international company, we have always worked toward human rights protection, respect for labor, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, so joining the UN Global Compact was a natural step.”

Going forward, as a member of the UN Global Compact, LEDVANCE plans to reduce its electricity and natural gas usage by 2.5% and 1.4% respectively, and to increase its recycling rate by around 72% worldwide.

Meanwhile, launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is a specialized UN agency that encourages companies to incorporate and implement the four core areas and ten principles of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption adopted by the UN into their strategy and operations. It provides global guidelines for advancing corporate social responsibility and business activities, and encourages companies to consistently uphold the principles of human rights protection, respect for labor, environmental protection, and anti-corruption while promoting activities for social prosperity.
