Royal Academy (hereinafter "Royal"), operated by bathroom specialist Royal & Company, will host the "Architect's Home" talk series together with Jung Seong-gap's Clip, a Better Life content platform, running a total of five sessions from February to June.
The <Architect's Home> talk series introduces homes built or lived in by renowned architects—from hanok to compact houses—and unfolds as open talks where participants can freely share information on architectural ideas and interior solutions. Rather than being a simple lecture, its distinguishing feature is a dedicated networking time that allows industry professionals such as interior designers, writers, and architects to interact with one another.
The first installment of Royal's <Architect's Home> talk series, titled "Hanok Aesthetics" by Cho Jung-gu, CEO of guga Urban Architecture, was held on February 20. Cho Jung-gu, who has won numerous architecture awards for works such as the Gyeongju Lahan Hotel and the Jinkwansa Temple Stay History Hall, opened up his old hanok home in Seochon, hosting an open talk on the beauty of hanok as well as his architectural philosophy of "harmony between the old and the new."
A Royal representative said, "The home now carries a spatial value that goes beyond its meaning as a simple living space—it has become a place where you create your own
lifestyle through interior design. When you understand a building's structure, materials, and style, you can add richer ideas to your interior design and give birth to a space full of your own personality. Reflecting these demands and trends in the interior industry, Royal plans to expand its various networking opportunities where industry professionals can communicate directly."
