The French home decoration fair ‘MAISON&OBJET’ will be held from September 6 to 10 at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre in Paris, France.

Held since 1995, MAISON&OBJET has established itself as the world’s premier event for professionals in the lifestyle, interior design, and design industries. Each edition attracts around 3,000 exhibitors and more than 85,000 visitors, of whom overseas visitors account for as much as 50%.

MAISON&OBJET not only generates business and discovers talent, but also researches current and future trends to deliver the latest inspiration twice a year. As a result, it serves as an effective catalyst for brand development and business growth.

On the digital platform ‘MOM (MAISON&OBJET AND MORE),’ launched in September 2016, visitors can find the latest news and product information from brands, manufacturers, artisans, craftspeople, and designers. MOM has become an endless source of inspiration, providing a space where visitors can engage in direct conversations with thousands of brands all year round.

The theme of the September MAISON&OBJET focuses on the workspace, which is undergoing innovative change. As social change causes the relationship between us and WORK to take on a different character than before, the environments in which we work are also gradually changing. Within a digitalized way of life, flexible working has become possible, and workers have gradually been freed from traditional working environments. As co-working spaces increase, more pleasant and interactive ways of working are emerging. In an age dominated by social media and individualism, workers are personalizing and taking ownership of their individual workspaces.

In line with these trends, manufacturers, distributors, space planners, and retailers have begun to focus on more distinctive office design. A familiar, comfortable, and creative office plays an important role in helping companies attract and retain talent.

At the September fair, the finest products for today’s offices and workspaces will be exhibited across a dedicated 1,000㎡ space. The new products under this theme—curated by design critic Chantal Hamaide and brought to life by architect Philippe Boisselier—can be discovered in the exhibition’s ‘What's New’ section, where numerous pieces of furniture, items, and accessories that add personality to the new workspace will be spotlighted.

For the September fair, LAURA GONZALEZ was selected as ‘Designer of the Year.’ The 37-year-old architect Laura Gonzalez is already well known throughout Paris, and about two years ago she began to gain fame abroad through a variety of projects—restaurants, bars, hotels, and more—with her signature style of reworking classic design.

At the ‘2019 Rising Talent Awards,’ which introduces emerging designers from a particular country at each edition, six teams with outstanding skill and potential from the United States were selected. Because the United States is vast and full of diversity, no single national characteristic stands out; instead, its various cultural strands are reflected in the products, presenting a rich array of stories.

The six teams selected as emerging designers are △Alex Brokamp △BAILEY FONTAINE △GREEN RIVER PROJECT △Harold △KIN & COMPANY △Rosie Li.
