Hyundai E&C Wins Top Photography Prize in

the Landscape Category for Amorepacific

Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) has won a Studio Winner award at the U.S. 2023 Architizer A+ Vision Awards.

Hosted by Architizer.com, the world's largest architecture-focused web magazine, the Vision Awards is a photography and video competition in which architectural photographers from more than 50 countries around the world compete. The awards recognize works that capture the most impressive architecture and landscape scenery in the world.

Hyundai E&C submitted "Sky Garden with Mirror Pond & Media Art," which captures the rooftop landscape of Amorepacific's new headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and was the only domestic construction company to win a Studio Winner award.

Amorepacific's new headquarters is a large office building located in the heart of the city. It is drawing attention for its distinctive landscape design, featuring an exterior of unique materials inspired by the moon jar (dalhangari) and a bold rooftop landscape created by opening up the building's interior space.

This award-winning work depicts the space housing the largest garden at the Amorepacific headquarters. Against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset, it captures an impressive scene created by the silhouette of green maple leaves reflected in a mirror pond and the media art installed on the ceiling. It was praised for its distinctive expression of the fleeting moment in which the spaces inside and outside the building communicate within a landscape frame that is symmetrical top-to-bottom and left-to-right.

Meanwhile, over the past three years Hyundai E&C has proven its design competitiveness in the landscape field by sweeping various domestic and international design awards. This includes achieving a grand slam by winning the world's three major design awards—the IDEA, iF, and reddot design awards—five times, as well as becoming the first domestic construction company to be selected for the U.S. Good Design Award.
