Hanssem PVC windows ‘Milan’ recognized for eco-friendly, high-performance quality — from window sets to accessories and finishing materials

Hanssem Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Jin-tae), a total home interior specialist company, announced that six types of its ‘Milan’ windows have obtained the Ministry of Environment’s official ‘Eco-Label Certification.’ Hanssem’s PVC windows ‘Milan’ demonstrated outstanding technological capability as energy-saving, eco-friendly products spanning the window set (glass and profile), accessories, and finishing materials.

The ‘Eco-Label Certification’ is a representative national certification program under which the Ministry of Environment awards an eco-friendly certification mark to products that reduce the consumption of energy resources and minimize the generation of pollutants. Hanssem’s ‘Milan’ windows were recognized as high-function, eco-friendly products, meeting standards including △high thermal insulation △Grade 1 airtightness and △non-detection of hazardous substances — not only for the window set composed of glass and profiles, but also down to the fine details of accessories and finishing materials.

Through the manufacturing of ‘finished windows’ that combine profiles, glass, hardware and other components in a single factory, Hanssem comprehensively manages the quality of window sets, accessories and finishing materials, thereby enhancing product competitiveness. ‘Milan’ windows help save heating and cooling costs by preventing warm indoor heat from escaping outside and blocking cold outdoor air from entering the home.

First, Hanssem’s ‘Milan’ windows apply highly energy-efficient ‘Max Low-e’ glass and were recognized for their thermal insulation and excellent airtightness. ‘Max Low-e’ glass is characterized by a thickly coated silver layer that provides higher insulation performance than ordinary glass. In particular, the ‘Milan’ balcony double windows apply 26㎜-thick double-layered Max Low-e glass — thicker than that of ordinary windows — raising thermal insulation and airtightness to an even higher level.

In addition, the windows were recognized for quality that uses eco-friendly materials down to the accessories. Materials harmless to the human body were used throughout, from the ‘windows’ such as glass and PVC frames to ‘accessories’ such as handles. In the process of producing PVC windows, a stabilizer that may contain detectable Cd (cadmium), Pb (lead) and Hg (mercury) components is added, but Hanssem’s ‘Milan’ windows use non-toxic, eco-friendly additives such as Ca (calcium) and Zn (zinc), meeting the ‘non-detection’ standard for hazardous substances.

Hanssem’s ‘Milan’ windows use premium materials even for the finishing portion that fixes the glass to the PVC window frame. Instead of silicone, they use a ‘gasket’ and German ‘glazing tape’ — as used in premium system windows — to enhance thermal insulation and airtightness. The exterior can also be kept neat over a long period without discoloration of the finishing area.

Hanssem provides differentiated consultation, design and installation services to customers who purchase windows. A home remodeling expert, the RD (Rehaus Designer), uses Hanssem’s 3D consultation program ‘Home Planner’ to recommend windows suited to the customer’s needs, and Hanssem’s specialized window installation personnel take responsibility for product installation and after-sales service.

Meanwhile, last year a total of 14 Hanssem window products, including the ‘Euro 700’ balcony double windows and the ‘Super’ balcony double windows, obtained Eco-Label Certification, and with the six ‘Milan’ balcony double window products newly earning certification this time, a total of 20 products have been recognized for their outstanding quality.

Cho Yong-han, Executive Director and Head of Hanssem’s SCM (Supply Chain Management) Division, said, “As eco-friendly lifestyles have recently gained attention, the role of windows in creating nature-friendly living spaces is becoming ever more important,” adding, “Hanssem will present window products equipped with excellent functionality and eco-friendliness, and provide a differentiated customer experience through services in which Hanssem’s specialized installation personnel take responsibility all the way through installation and after-sales service.”
