Samhwa Paints, Two Products
“Famous for Being Rigorous”
Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. (CEO Oh Jin-soo) announced that two of its eco-friendly flooring products have obtained the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) biobased product certification.
The USDA biobased product certification can be obtained when a product's biobased carbon content meets or exceeds the USDA threshold, and it is renowned for its demanding document review and product testing requirements.
The Samhwa Paints products that earned this USDA certification are two items: ‘Nature Value U Floor’ and ‘Nature Value E Floor.’ Developed using eco-friendly raw materials such as corn and soybeans, they are environmentally friendly products that each meet the USDA biobased carbon content thresholds of 25% or more for urethane coatings and 23% or more for epoxy systems.
First, ‘Nature Value U Floor’ is a urethane-based flooring material with very high hardness, allowing it to be used even in locations where vehicles and heavy equipment travel. In addition, its elasticity and elongation make it resistant to impact, with little discoloration or slipperiness caused by moisture. By reducing the use of petroleum-based raw materials, it is an eco-friendly flooring material that enables companies to achieve carbon neutrality.
‘Nature Value E Floor’ is a solvent-free epoxy flooring material used mainly in parking lots, factories, and warehouses, and it contains a higher proportion of natural materials than ordinary solvent-free epoxy flooring. In particular, it is a product that meets the biobased content requirements for Mandatory Federal Purchasing (FP) items of the U.S. federal government.
An official from Samhwa Paints said, “Using eco-friendly raw materials to achieve carbon neutrality, and through this preserving the natural environment and responding to global climate change, is the ultimate goal of the trustworthy Samhwa company,” adding, “We plan to unveil new products with even higher biobased content in phases within the year.”
