The masterpieces of the century's genius painter, Vincent van Gogh, have been reborn as digital masterpieces through OLED TVs.

LG Display (CEO and Vice Chairman Sang-beom Han) is operating a special digital gallery exhibition hall inside the 'Meet Vincent van Gogh' exhibition, held at the Woojung Art Center through August 25.

The digital gallery, named 'Loving Gogh,' was created under the theme of 'Gogh, who died in 1890, meets you in 2019 across 130 years,' reinterpreting 'The Bedroom (Blue Room),' one of Gogh's works, with a modern concept. LG Display installed a 77-inch LG OLED TV in the spot where the window in the original work stood, allowing visitors to appreciate a variety of Gogh's works.

OLED is a self-emitting display that can control each pixel individually, enabling more detailed and precise expression. It also reproduces rich colors, including deep blacks, and offers a wide viewing angle, so that visitors can feel the emotion of the original work without color distortion from any angle, whether from the front or the side.

In particular, the product installed this time features a paper-thin wallpaper design that gives the impression of a painting attached to the wall, and it applies artificial intelligence technology that analyzes the original footage to realize optimal picture quality, making it feel as if one is looking at an actual painting.

On the OLED TVs installed in the digital gallery, some 30 of Gogh's representative works, such as 'The Flowering Orchard' and 'Self-Portrait,' are screened in rotation under the themes of △the cityscape of streets viewed from Gogh's room, △the natural scenery viewed from Gogh's room, and △the various figures who gaze upon Gogh's room.

Adriaan Dönszelmann, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, which hosts Gogh exhibitions around the world and holds the world's largest Gogh collection, said, "The works of Gogh, who was an Impressionist painter, are characterized by rough brushstrokes and a variety of colors drawn from primary hues. We expect that the delicate expressiveness and powerful color of the original works will be conveyed well through the vivid colors of OLED." He added, "We plan to reach out in new ways through collaborations with various industries so that more people can encounter Van Gogh and his works easily and intimately."

Meanwhile, the 'Meet Vincent van Gogh' exhibition, which has been highly praised as an 'audience-immersive exhibition touring the world,' is designed to let visitors step directly into the journey of Van Gogh's life and experience his works with all five senses—seeing, hearing, and touching. Following Beijing, China in 2016 and Barcelona, Spain this past March, it is being held in Seoul as the third stop, and it has won the 'THEA AWARDS' of the Themed Entertainment Association, also known as the 'Academy Awards of the themed entertainment industry.'
