220,000 cumulative units sold as of 2021, a 340% increase over 2019
Growing interest in interior design extends to the kitchen
Baekjo Sink, a specialized manufacturer of stainless steel sink bowls, announced that sales of its handmade square sink bowls have risen 340% over the past two years, reaching a cumulative total of 220,000 units sold as of 2021.
The growth is attributed to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which has kept people at home longer, sustaining interest in interior design and driving the popularity of simple projects such as partial renovations.
The greatest strength that draws consumers to Baekjo Sink's square sink bowls is their sophisticated design. At a time when the desire for aesthetically pleasing spaces—embodied by trends like the "home cafe" and "home-cation"—is on the rise, the square design creates a clean, upscale atmosphere that lets consumers experience a European style right at home.
The product's popularity is also backed by outstanding craftsmanship built on 58 years of tradition. Notable features include a durable 1.2T thickness for robust strength, finely detailed 5-Round corners that are easy to clean, and a double-molded 3-Slope bottom structure (angled drainage) that minimizes standing water.
In addition, Baekjo Sink applies its proprietary noise-reduction pad, the Quiet Pad (Patent No. 10-20817110000), to reduce everyday noise generated when water or dishes come into contact with the stainless steel. Every product undergoes meticulous full inspection and packaging before delivery, maintaining superior quality and earning consumer trust.
When Baekjo Sink first began manufacturing and selling household square sink bowls in 2005—the first company in Korea to do so—sales were sluggish due to the then-unfamiliar design and high price. However, over the past six to seven years, sales have gradually increased as consumers with a growing interest in interior design have chosen the product.
The most widely loved products are the SQSR series and the SWSR series. The SQSR series, which fits standard 900㎜ base cabinets, continues to enjoy steady popularity as a product that incorporates improved design and technology reflecting consumer reviews. Since 2019, a broader range of square sink bowls has been produced, and demand for the SWSR series has grown in particular as the "Sink Bowl Reform Service" has expanded.
Both products feature the 3-Slope, 5R, and Quiet Pad, and can be enhanced with Goni Clear Coating, an inorganic paint material highly resistant to staining, abrasion, and bacteria. Another major advantage is that each series is manufactured in a variety of sizes, allowing consumers to choose according to their kitchen dimensions or personal preferences.
Meanwhile, this past December, Baekjo Sink renovated its showroom, where visitors can experience a range of sink bowls firsthand. The showroom offers a diverse lineup of Baekjo Sink's square sink bowls, including the premium-line SQSR series, the inset-under line GD series and Comporte series, and square sink bowls for the reform service.
A Baekjo Sink official said, "The square sink bowl is a product born from Baekjo Sink's 58 years of tradition and technology," adding, "We hope that as square sink bowls become more common and widespread, the transformed kitchen will become a space where consumers can feel the joy of cooking rather than the burden of washing dishes."
