Design competition ‘IDEA 2022’

Total of 42 awards, including 2 Gold prizes

Samsung Electronics announced that it won a total of 42 awards—2 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze, along with 34 Finalist honors—at ‘IDEA 2022,’ a globally prestigious international design competition.

Organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980, IDEA selects the year’s winning works across 20 categories—including Consumer Technology, Home, Digital Interaction and Design Strategy—by evaluating design innovation, user experience and social contribution.

Samsung Electronics was recognized for excellence in designs that consider consumer lifestyles and sustainability, showcasing a wide range of innovations spanning products such as smartphones, TVs and home appliances, as well as UX and advanced concept designs.

The ‘BESPOKE Kitchen Package’ and ‘BESPOKE Jet,’ whose designs can reflect consumer tastes according to lifestyle, were selected for Gold prizes.

The ‘BESPOKE Kitchen Package’ is a combination of kitchen appliances comprising a refrigerator, oven range and dishwasher, allowing users to choose their desired specifications from a variety of colors and materials. It features a built-in look design that can be installed neatly to match kitchen furniture, harmoniously completing the kitchen interior.

The ‘BESPOKE Jet’ is a cordless vacuum cleaner featuring an all-in-one Clean Station that combines dust emptying and a charging cradle, finished in the popular colors of BESPOKE appliances for a design that blends well with the space. It enhances the convenience of the entire cleaning process—from emptying dust after use to storage and charging—delivering a differentiated experience.

Kim Jin-soo, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Design Management Center, said, “It is important to provide optimized experiences that match customers’ lifestyles and changing values,” adding, “We will continue our efforts to deliver not only highly refined designs but also innovative and sustainable user experiences.”
