Samsung C&T Leverages Wireless Communication and Facial/Voice Recognition Technologies
Technologies to Counter Contagious Diseases Applied to Individual Homes
Samsung C&T's Engineering & Construction Group (CEO Oh Se-chul) announced that it has developed a range of contactless, anti-virus residential products to be applied to its Raemian brand.
The Raemian contactless system uses wireless communication and facial/voice recognition technologies to provide a living environment that minimizes physical contact. Key products include △a card-type One-Pass system, △a facial recognition access system for common entrances and individual units, and △an elevator voice recognition system.
The card-type One-Pass system addresses the portability and loss-risk issues of existing wearable-type products, and is designed in a form that can be stored in a wallet or smartphone case. Simply carrying the card-type One-Pass allows residents to access the common entrance and automatically call the elevator in a contactless manner.
In addition to existing entry methods using passwords or electronic tag contact, facial recognition technology has been applied to apartment common entrances and individual unit doors, adding a function that allows entry after authentication. Through this feature, residents can enter safely and conveniently in a contactless manner at the door.
The elevator voice recognition system makes it easy to use the elevator even when both hands are occupied. Using the elevator has often been inconvenient when carrying a child or a lot of luggage, but with the introduction of the voice recognition function, residents can now easily travel to their destination floor even when both hands are unavailable.
A key feature of the Raemian anti-virus system is that it applies technologies to counter contagious diseases to individual homes. These products include a negative-pressure ventilation system and an all-in-one sterilizing faucet.
The multi-unit residential negative-pressure ventilation system developed by Samsung C&T can turn the master bedroom and the master bedroom bathroom into either positive-pressure or negative-pressure spaces. When there is a family member with a weak immune system, positive pressure can be created in the master bedroom space to prevent external contaminants from entering, and when there is a family member who has contracted a highly contagious disease, the master bedroom can be set to negative pressure to prevent harmful substances in the master bedroom from being discharged into the family's living space. The product was developed with the aim of introducing a contagious-disease blocking function to individual homes in situations requiring self-isolation or at-home treatment.
The all-in-one sterilizing faucet is a product that allows the simultaneous use of sterilizing water and regular water functions, reflecting the lifestyle trend of heightened sensitivity to hygiene. It can be used not only for cutting boards and dishes but also for removing pesticide residue from vegetables and fruits. Made as an all-in-one unit combining the sterilizing faucet and the regular faucet, it improves the utilization of sink space and differentiates the design.
Choi Ho-hyung, leader of Samsung C&T's Residential M&E Team, said, "We developed these products to relieve the fear and anxiety about virus infection that customers feel in their daily lives," adding, "We plan to continue developing differentiated products utilizing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies."
Samsung C&T plans to apply the products it has developed this time, in consultation with resident associations, starting from projects scheduled for sale this year.
