An exhibition offering a chance to experience the original works of Salvador Dalí
Running through March 3, 2024, showcasing more than 60 years of creative activity
Bunker de Lumières Theatre, a multi-disciplinary cultural and artistic venue that delivers new artistic experiences through light and music, is presenting ‘Dalí: The Endless Enigma’ through March 3, 2024.
‘Dalí: The Endless Enigma,’ on view at Bunker de Lumières Theatre, is an exhibition offering a chance to experience the original works of Salvador Dalí, the genius artist who defined the 20th century. Featuring pieces such as ‘The Persistence of Memory (1931),’ ‘Galatea of the Spheres (1952)’ and ‘Leda Atomic (1947–1949),’ it introduces more than 60 years of creative activity by the Catalan master, who meticulously blended the mysteries of reality, consciousness, fantasy and memory into his paintings.
The entire ‘Dalí: The Endless Enigma’ exhibition unfolds alongside the soundtrack of ‘Pink Floyd,’ the British band that left an indelible mark on music history through its technical experimentation. Pink Floyd’s music shares the fantastical imagination rooted in a surrealist approach found in the work of Dalí, who rejected rational mechanisms and endlessly repeated his experiments. Art director Gianfranco Iannuzzi sought to bring together two iconic figures of 20th-century art and music and to express their surrealist points of connection.
Bunker de Lumières Theatre is also presenting ‘Gaudí: The Architect of the Imaginary’ as a special feature exhibition, allowing visitors to appreciate the works of Spain’s iconic architect Antoni Gaudí. Following Gaudí’s extraordinary works, the special exhibition invites visitors on a dreamlike journey, guiding them into the world of Gaudí’s boundless imagination and creativity by tracing the paths of sunlight streaming across his buildings. The hyperbolic arches, slanted columns and undulating façades of Gaudí’s architecture appear before viewers’ eyes, while ceramic mosaics of organic patterns breathe life into the space. In addition, visitors can encounter a wide and diverse range of content, including the contemporary art piece ‘Another Garden.’
Located at the Walkerhill Hotel & Resort in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, ‘Bunker de Lumières Theatre’ is the second project in Tmonet’s immersive art exhibition ‘Bunker de Lumières series,’ following ‘Bunker de Lumières’ on Jeju Island. Created by regenerating the Walkerhill Gayageum Hall, which served an iconic role in the performing arts scene for more than 60 years, this cultural and artistic regeneration space preserves the distinctive features of the original venue, such as its lighting and stage equipment. With an overwhelming scale of 4,958.6㎡ (1,500 pyeong) in total area and a maximum height of 21 meters, it offers visitors a special and sensory immersive art exhibition experience.
Meanwhile, the ‘Bunker de Lumières series,’ an immersive exhibition project that originated in France, is a cultural regeneration concept exhibition that transforms old sites by installing more than 100 projectors and dozens of speakers, enabling visitors to experience world-renowned masters’ artworks in a synesthetic way. Including Seoul and Jeju, it has opened at nine locations around the world, such as Paris, New York and Amsterdam.
