Unveils ‘Raemian RAI Life Hall’ Applying A.I. Technology
Featuring Spaces Specialized for Dining & Delivery, Home Office & Home Training
Samsung C&T's Engineering & Construction Group is showcasing next-generation smart residential technology that utilizes A.I. (artificial intelligence).
In 2018, Samsung C&T opened the Raemian Home Lab Smart Life Hall and unveiled a variety of smart home technologies. Reflecting customer preferences, features installed in the Smart Life Hall—such as facial recognition, voice recognition, and the wearable One-Pass—began to be applied to Raemian complexes launched from 2019 onward.
In 2021, Samsung C&T unveiled the ‘Raemian RAI (Raemian Artificial Intelligence) Life Hall,’ an upgraded version of the Raemian Home Lab Smart Life Hall, applying A.I. technologies for convenient residential living.
The RAI Life Hall showcases living-convenience services such as dining and delivery that leverage future technologies including A.I., robots, and drones, along with specialized spaces such as a home office and home training area. Once verification is complete, these technologies are targeted for commercialization within 2021. The spatial layout of the RAI Life Hall is largely divided into common areas and the interior of each household unit.
The common areas consist of the parking lot and the complex's shared spaces. In the parking lot, Samsung C&T presented a smart parking guidance system that recognizes a resident's vehicle license plate and directs them to a parking space close to their residential building, as well as delivery robot technology that receives and transports residents' belongings.
At the apartment entrance, a visitor facial recognition function and a thermal imaging detection system are installed, and residents can also check the plant cultivation status of the smart farm installed in the complex's common area via CCTV from inside their homes. In the community facilities, a guidance robot equipped with autonomous driving capabilities is installed to escort customers and provide facility guidance, while in the interior café, an unmanned café robot handles beverage preparation and serving.
Inside each household unit, A.I. solutions are applied on top of existing smart home functions to provide a customized environment tailored to each resident's living patterns. The dining, relaxation, and sleeping environments most preferred by residents are implemented for each space, and the bathtub is filled with water at the desired temperature.
Reflecting the increase in at-home activity due to COVID-19, spaces suitable for a home office or homeschooling were also created. A distinctive feature is that they are designed as hidden spaces to enhance concentration. In addition, a multi-room was unveiled where residents can enjoy various hobbies such as home fitness and movie watching.
Raemian's A.IoT platform is a product independently developed through collaboration between Samsung C&T and Samsung SDS, connecting an artificial intelligence system to the home IoT platform to provide a customized environment for customers. In particular, the Raemian A.IoT platform is an open platform, offering the advantage of being able to collaborate with a wide range of companies. It is building a smart residential environment by connecting not only with manufacturing, telecommunications, and portal companies but also with the systems of specialized firms in fields such as mobility and security. The Raemian A.IoT platform began with collaboration among 13 IT companies in 2018 and is currently linked with the platforms of 25 domestic and international global IT companies.
Samsung C&T plans to implement a personalized residential environment by building 37 block-type detached houses and a community center on Block 5-2 within the Busan Eco Delta City project site. Inside the household units, security features linked to residential data and energy-saving functions will be introduced, while an intelligent video surveillance system, a smart parking control system, and smart crosswalks will be installed in the village's common areas. This represents a step beyond building smart homes toward constructing a smart complex.
