A next-generation smart home in Busan Eco Delta City

Various home appliances and solutions supplied to 56 households in Smart Village

Samsung Electronics is building a next-generation smart home in Busan Eco Delta City (EDC), a national pilot smart city.

Overseen by K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation), Eco Delta City is a smart city being developed on an 11.8㎢ site in the Gangseo-gu area of Busan, with a scale of 30,000 households.

Participating as an innovative technology provider in the smart home field, Samsung Electronics supplied a range of home appliances and solutions to the 56 households of Smart Village, the demonstration complex that is the first to move into Eco Delta City.

Smart Village introduces innovative technologies across five fields — △healthcare △robotics △living environment △data △water — and will be operated as a 'Living Lab' in which residents actually live for the next five years while experiencing the smart home.

Here, Samsung Electronics supplies a total of 15 types of products, including BESPOKE appliances such as the Family Hub refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, AirDresser, dishwasher and vacuum cleaner, as well as the QLED TV, Air Monitor (air-quality measuring device) and Galaxy Tab.

Using Samsung Electronics' 'SmartThings' app, residents can not only control home appliances but also integrate and access a variety of information — including lighting and blind control, heating and cooling control, checking visitors while away, managing unmanned parcel delivery, and viewing notices — for convenient living.

In addition, Samsung Electronics plans to provide various converged services that enhance living convenience, playing the role of presenting an ideal model in the smart home field of national pilot smart cities going forward.

Leveraging the competitiveness of integrating products and solutions, Samsung Electronics first unveiled its SmartThings-based smart home solution at Samsung C&T's Raemian in Seocho-gu, Seoul last year, and has since provided smart home solutions to some 50,000 households across about 50 apartment complexes built by major construction firms such as Daewoo E&C, Hyundai E&C and POSCO E&C. Next year, the company plans to expand cooperation with more construction firms.
