Expressing the Artist's Distinctive Visual Language

Eco-Friendly Paint 'Aisaenggak'

Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. is sponsoring the solo exhibition by artist Sung Hwan Kim, 'Ua a ao ia o ia e ia,' held at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) Seosomun Main Building through March 30.

The exhibition marks Sung Hwan Kim's first large-scale solo show at a national or public art museum. Based in Hawaii and New York, Kim is internationally active, drawing on diverse elements such as architecture, film, music, and literature to explore social structures and the relationships among the memories, histories, and psychological traces embedded within them. Samhwa Paints provided custom color paints for this exhibition. To create exhibition spaces that immerse visitors in the show's theme—the story of Hawaiian immigrants—Samhwa Paints rendered Kim's distinctive visual language in a rich palette of colors.

The paint used in Sung Hwan Kim's solo exhibition is the 'Aisaenggak' series. Built on the concept of paint that can be used with peace of mind even in spaces where children are present, the product has earned Korea's leading eco-friendly certification, the Environmental Labelling Certification.

Lee Sang-hee, head of Samhwa Paints' Color Design Center, said, "We find it meaningful to be able to provide custom colors suited to the themes artist Sung Hwan Kim researches," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to support arts and culture by providing optimal colors and paints to create exhibition spaces where visitors can immerse themselves in the artworks."

Meanwhile, Samhwa Paints also sponsored Park Kwang-jin's solo exhibition, 'Whispers of Nature,' running at the Seoul Museum of Art Seosomun Main Building through February 9.
