‘Irregular Raised Lane Markings’
Rapid rainwater drainage keeps lane markings visible
Samhwa Paint Industry drew attention at the exhibition with a product that enhances vehicle safety on the road.
Samhwa Paint Industry Co., Ltd. announced that it successfully concluded its exhibition at the ‘2023 Road Traffic Expo,’ held from November 22 to 24 at KINTEX in Gyeonggi Province.
At this expo, Samhwa Paint introduced its ‘Irregular Raised Lane Markings,’ which were applied in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s ‘Road Surface Marking Pilot Project.’ These lane markings feature a bumpy, irregular shape and are the same type applied on Germany’s Autobahn.
At the expo, Samhwa Paint created a virtual road in a darkroom setting so that visitors could experience the irregular raised lane markings firsthand, drawing crowds of attendees. In the experience space, visitors could see the difference between conventional lane markings and irregular raised lane markings under nighttime and rainy conditions.
In rainy conditions, the glass beads in conventional lane markings become submerged in rainwater, making the markings hard to see, whereas Samhwa Paint’s irregular raised lane markings drain quickly, keeping the markings clearly visible even in the rain. During the expo, more than 1,200 people—including road traffic officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Expressway Corporation—visited Samhwa Paint’s exhibition booth and showed interest in road-marking paints and new technologies.
A Samhwa Paint official said, “Even roads that appear simple are equipped with advanced technology,” adding, “Irregular raised lane markings protect driver safety and are essential to creating a safe road environment.”
