A Digitally Realized Color Book
1200 Digital Color Palette
Samhwa Paint Ind. Co., Ltd. took part in the ‘2024 Seoul Living Design Fair,’ held at COEX from February 28 to March 3.
At this exhibition, Samhwa Paint operated a color gallery under the concept of SAMHWA vibes, dedicated to ‘pleasant vibes in everyday life.’ Drawing on the colors of ‘La La in Limboland,’ the company’s Color Nuance of the Year, the display presented Color Panorama, Into the Planet, and Art Wall.
The event also offered a chance to try out the ‘1200 Digital Color Palette,’ developed in-house by Samhwa Paint. The ‘1200 Digital Color Palette’ is a digital rendering of the ‘Samhwa Color Collection Plus 1200’ color book. Its advantage is that it minimizes the color differences caused by factors such as monitor brightness, allowing users to view color tones on a standard monitor that closely resemble those of the actual color book.
The exhibition hall showcased works created with the natural lime paint of Ard Raccanello, an Italian premium paint company, while the walls used the high-quality, eco-friendly paint ‘iLux Multi Eggshell’ to create a subtle and environmentally friendly atmosphere. In particular, Samhwa Paint produced promotional braille postcards—sponsored by braille book manufacturer Sensee Co., Ltd.—so that visually impaired visitors could also enjoy the exhibition.
Lee Sang-hee, head of Samhwa Paint’s Color Design Center, said, “This exhibition was an opportunity to experience the 1200 Digital Color Palette, which was designed to let people use color across the boundaries of online and offline. As part of Color Universal Design (CUD), we aim to expand ‘experiences for all’ so that everyone, including the visually impaired, can feel the diversity and rich emotion of color.”
