Preventing Industrial Accidents and Ensuring Safety

Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. signed a business agreement on October 7 with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and the Korea Color Universal Design Association to develop an ‘Industrial Safety Color Universal Design.’
The signing ceremony, held that day at the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, was attended by key officials including Park Beom-su, CPO of Samhwa Paints; Ahn Jong-ju, Chairman of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency; and Park Yeon-seon, Chairwoman of the Korea Color Universal Design Association. Through this agreement, the three organizations decided to develop and apply an ‘Industrial Safety Color Universal Design’ to prevent industrial accidents. The ‘Industrial Safety Color Universal Design’ is a color design that helps people intuitively recognize various types of safety information, such as safety signs. Specifically, the three parties agreed to actively cooperate on △developing the Industrial Safety Color Universal Design △industrial accident prevention activities △color universal design consulting and education △color paint support and △marketing and promotion.
Lee Sang-hee, Director of Samhwa Paints’ Color Design Center, said, “Preventing industrial accidents and ensuring worker safety are values more important than anything else at industrial sites,” adding that “applying color universal design is essential to creating a safe and comfortable working environment for everyone, including people with color vision deficiency and foreign workers.”
Meanwhile, Color Universal Design is a customized color design that considers people with color vision impairments, such as the elderly and those with color weakness, so they can easily distinguish colors. Everyday information is distinguished by color, and because people with color vision impairments have difficulty distinguishing colors, Color Universal Design was developed.
