‘2021 Good Design Award’
Renewed can design
Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. (CEO Oh Jin-soo) has had its ‘Ansim Samhwa can design’ selected as an outstanding design at the ‘2021 Good Design Award.’
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, the Good Design Award is a domestic industrial design competition that awards the GD (Good Design) mark—an official government certification—to products and services with excellent design following expert evaluation.
Samhwa Paints was named a 2021 Good Design winner after receiving high marks for aesthetics, originality, usability, and purposefulness in the package design category.
Marking its 75th anniversary this year, Samhwa Paints established the slogan ‘Because it’s Samhwa, it’s reassuring,’ and this past June it renewed its paint can design to deliver the value of ‘reassurance’ to the customers who use its products.
Samhwa Paints’ new paint cans have been upgraded in a way that enhances corporate identity and customer convenience. The gray-colored frame on the front of the package expresses a customer-centered ‘reassurance boundary,’ while the brushstroke graphic conveys the identity of a company that has led the domestic paint industry for 75 years. Background colors on the cans were differentiated by use so that each application can be easily identified.
Won Yoo-rak, head of Samhwa Paints’ Communications Team, said, “This is the result of reflecting Samhwa Paints’ own design philosophy, which takes customer needs and convenience into account, and it enabled us to achieve a good outcome at the Good Design Award,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to prioritize the value of customer reassurance solutions and strive to present innovative and unrivaled designs.”
