Participation in Anyang Public Art Project
Design Considering All Color Vision Types
Samhwa Paints & Chemicals Co., Ltd. is participating in the 7th Anyang Public Art Project (APAP7), hosted by the City of Anyang and organized by the Anyang Foundation for Culture & Arts, which runs through November 2.
Held every three years, the Anyang Public Art Project is Asia's largest public art festival. It is taking place under the theme “ZONE7 Your Imaginary Space” at venues including Anyang Art Park and the former Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency building in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province.
At the Anyang Public Art Project, Samhwa Paint unveiled its “Color Universal Design (CUD) Guide for Everyone.” This environmental color guide was created with the convenience of not only people with color vision deficiency but all people in mind, and was developed by analyzing regulations, landscape plans, and urban color schemes for administrative districts across the country.
Samhwa Paint also sponsored the Anyang Public Art Project's exhibition spaces with its high-quality, eco-friendly paint “iLUX.” Samhwa Paint continues to pursue a range of ESG management activities to build a society without discrimination, protect the environment, and advance culture and the arts in local communities.
Lee Sang-hee, head of Samhwa Paint's Color Design Center, said, “Through a Color Universal Design guide that can be applied to spaces shared by everyone, we hope to see the widespread use of color design that helps all people—regardless of disability, age, or other factors—live more comfortably and safely.”
Color Universal Design (CUD), meanwhile, is a color design approach that considers people with color vision deficiency, such as the elderly, so they can clearly distinguish information in products and services. It is used mainly in underground parking lots, where safety accidents frequently occur, and in living spaces for people with disabilities and children.
