Sponsors Exhibition at Jungnang Art Center

Consideration for Wheelchair Users

Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd., together with the Jungnang Cultural Foundation, sponsored the exhibition ‘Picture Books Seen Through Immersive Media: Watermelon Swimming Pool,’ which runs at the Jungnang Art Center through September 6, 2025.

For this exhibition, Samhwa Paints used its high-quality water-based paint ‘I-Saenggak Water-based Interior Grade 1’ to create an exhibition space where both people with and without disabilities can understand and enjoy the works. In particular, Samhwa Paints applied its epoxy flooring ‘Epocoat’ to repair the aged floors of the Jungnang Art Center, allowing wheelchair users to comfortably view the exhibition.

‘Picture Books Seen Through Immersive Media: Watermelon Swimming Pool’ is an exhibition that combines media technology with the picture book ‘Watermelon Swimming Pool’ by author Annyeongdal, showcasing vivid visuals and the warm sensibility characteristic of the artist. The exhibition is designed with braille, audio description, and sign language, making it a space where everyone can come together regardless of disability, age, gender, or occupation.

This is the first exhibition to be held since Samhwa Paints and the Jungnang Cultural Foundation signed a ‘Business Agreement for Community Contribution’ last October. At the signing ceremony, the two organizations agreed to actively cooperate on △ establishing a mutual cooperation framework for the development and promotion of local culture, △ supporting color content provided for the foundation’s exhibition spaces, △ collaborating on education and consulting related to Color Universal Design, and △ utilizing and promoting the art center space for various forms of collaboration.

Lee Sang-hee, head of Samhwa Paints’ Color Design Center, said, “Since this exhibition is being held as a barrier-free exhibition, we sympathized with its purpose and provided the paint, flooring, and construction work,” adding, “As a color-specialized company, Samhwa Paints aims to build a society where everyone — including the elderly, the color-blind, and the visually impaired — can live equally and comfortably, with no neighbors left marginalized when it comes to color.”
