Inside Hanyang University's ERICA Campus

Business Agreement Signed for Construction

Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. (CEO and President Oh Jin-soo) is pushing ahead with the relocation of its R&D center into Hanyang University's ERICA Campus.

On September 8, at Ansan City Hall, Samhwa Paint signed a "Business Agreement for the Construction of the Samhwa Paint R&D Center" within the Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex of the Hanyang University ERICA Campus Innovation Park, with Ansan Mayor Yoon Hwa-seop, Hanyang University President Kim Woo-seung, and Samhwa Paint CEO and Executive Vice President Ryu Ki-bung in attendance.

Under this agreement, Samhwa Paint will establish a framework of cooperation and collaborate with Ansan City and Hanyang University to move into the R&D center located within the Hanyang University ERICA Campus Innovation Park site at 1271 Sa-dong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan.

Samhwa Paint has continuously reviewed relocating its R&D center in order to consolidate research departments dispersed across its business sites, and to proactively secure outstanding R&D talent so as to take the lead in future technologies.

The Hanyang University ERICA Campus Innovation Park is a hub of innovative growth in the Ansan region, home to the Banwol and Sihwa industrial complexes. It was selected as the site for the new R&D center because it not only provides an environment offering tailored services suited to a company's growth cycle, but also, given its location on the Hanyang University campus and its proximity to the New Ansan Line scheduled to open in 2024, makes it easy to attract talent.

Samhwa Paint plans to build a research facility with six above-ground floors and a total floor area of 9,900 m² on a site of approximately 4,300 m² within the Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex of the Hanyang University ERICA Campus Innovation Park. The company intends to bring together the functions of its research facilities in Ansan and in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, to focus on fine chemicals research.

Samhwa Paint CEO and Executive Vice President Ryu Ki-bung said, "As a result of sparing no investment in research even amid an uncertain business environment, Samhwa Paint has come to possess advanced technological capabilities in Korea's chemical sector. The new R&D center to be built this time will become the central pillar of Samhwa's technology management." He added, "We are grateful for the active support of Ansan City and Hanyang University, and we hope that Samhwa Paint's researchers will be able to produce research achievements in a more pleasant environment."
