Noroo Paint shares premium-grade
‘Thegiban’ napa cabbage with Anyang residents
Noroo Paint announced that on October 14 it held an event at its headquarters in Bakdal-dong, Anyang, sharing 1,500 heads of napa cabbage with local residents.
This sharing event was organized by Noroo Paint executives and employees who came together to help local neighbors who were giving up on making kimjang (winter kimchi) due to the burden of cabbage prices. Although cabbage prices, which had soared amid this summer's record heat wave, are stabilizing as the kimjang season arrives, the drop in production has left a lingering burden on cabbage prices, and so this giveaway was planned separately from kimjang support.
The event was attended by Hong Sun-cheol, chairman of the Noroo Paint labor union, along with some 30 residents belonging to the residents' self-governing committees of Bakdal 1-dong, Bakdal 2-dong, and Chunghun-dong in Anyang. Some of the cabbage used in the giveaway will be delivered to local residents through the residents' self-governing committees, and will also be used for kimjang support for neighbors in need over the coming year-end.
The event featured premium-grade napa cabbage harvested from seeds developed in-house by ‘Thegiban,’ Noroo Group's seed-specialized agricultural life sciences affiliate. Founded in 2015 as a seed-specialized agricultural life sciences company, Thegiban researches, develops, and sells napa cabbage as well as tomatoes, peppers, oriental melons, and melons in the domestic market, drawing on its expertise in vegetable seed R&D and agriculture. In addition, its export varieties include tomato, pepper, cucumber, melon, and cabbage seeds, which it exports to local markets in India, North America, North Africa, and Europe.
An official from Noroo Paint said, “We planned this sharing event after hearing that a growing number of families were giving up on making kimjang as cabbage prices soared,” adding, “We will continue our efforts to spread a corporate culture of shared growth to the local community.”
