Hyundai Elevator

Business Cooperation with KT and LG Electronics

Hyundai Elevator has signed a three-way memorandum of understanding with KT and LG Electronics for business cooperation on robot-elevator integration and for revitalizing the robotics industry. The signing ceremony, held on July 26 at the Hyundai Group Building's Vision Studio, was attended by Doh Ik-han, Head of Hyundai Elevator's Service Business Division; Lee Sang-ho, Head of KT's AI Robot Business Group; and Roh Kyu-chan, Head of LG Electronics' Robot Business.

Under this agreement, the three companies agreed to jointly pursue discussions on mobility innovation, including △planning and discovering services that link elevators and robots, △business cooperation to secure competitiveness in robot services, and △exploring new business opportunities.

In 2022, Hyundai Elevator released an open API that can link elevators with platforms such as robots and smart devices, and by integrating it with KT's communications and AI (artificial intelligence) voice recognition technologies and LG Electronics' robot technology, it is providing services at various sites including Yongin Severance Hospital of Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Josun Hotel Haeundae, the Shinhan Bank headquarters building, and Hanwha Resort.

Through this agreement, the three companies aim to establish a foundation for new industries by converging elevator, communications, and robot technologies. At the same time, based on their blueprint for a 'K-brand' smart building, they are expected to gain a competitive edge in Saudi Arabia's NEOM City construction project and Indonesia's capital relocation project.

Elevator-robot integration services can be used in a variety of fields. In multi-unit housing such as apartments, they can perform delivery services for parcels and ordered food; in hotels, they can provide amenities, beverages, and other items ordered by guests in their rooms; and in medical facilities, they can handle the transport of medicines and pharmaceutical materials.
