Beijing Winter Sports Venues

Solving the Venues' Challenging Requirements

Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), the global lighting company leading connected lighting, has installed Philips LED and Interact Sports connected lighting systems at the main venues of the world's largest winter sports event, held in Beijing.

At the world's largest winter sports event held in Beijing, the Philips LED SportStar and ArenaVision series were combined with Interact Sports to address the various challenges that make it difficult for athletes to deliver peak performance—such as the light-reflecting white snow and icy surfaces that are characteristic of winter sports venues.

The Philips LED sports and Interact Sports connected lighting installed on this occasion are flicker-free products with no fine flickering of light, helping athletes concentrate even more on their competition, while also delivering crisp super slow motion (SSM) replay footage so that viewers can enjoy the vivid excitement of winter sports comfortably from home.

In particular, at Genting Snow Park, where the freestyle skiing and snowboard events are held, high color rendering makes it possible to perfectly capture the athletes' movements even at night, while at Wukesong Sports Center, where the ice hockey and basketball events are held, the lighting meets the diverse broadcast standards required—capturing the athletes' subtle movements, speed, and sense of presence—and is expected to maximize the thrill of sporting events in which victory and defeat are decided in a fleeting moment.

John Wang, President of Signify for the China and East Asia market, emphasized, "Through this opportunity, we will strive to provide various sports venues with Signify's sustainable lighting systems."
