LG Electronics is officially launching its AI home platform 'LG ThinQ AI (hereinafter ThinQ AI)' in the European market.
ThinQ AI consists of two core services: 'ThinQ UP,' which continuously upgrades existing home appliances with new AI features, and 'ThinQ Care,' which makes it easy to manage product conditions such as malfunctions and abnormal signs.
▲'ThinQ UP (domestic name: UP Appliances)' is a service that helps customers continuously upgrade the features they need even after purchasing an appliance.
For example, a customer who has gotten a pet can add a pet care function that removes allergens to their washer or dryer through a software upgrade. In addition, customers who frequently wear clothes made of thin materials in the summer can fine-tune the drying level from the existing 5 stages to 13 stages through an upgrade, enabling drying tailored to the fabric.
Since its launch in 2022, ThinQ UP has expanded its supported products and features in Korea and North America, surpassing a cumulative 20 million downloads as of the first half of this year. The number of home appliances connected to the ThinQ app has also increased by more than 40% compared to the previous year, presenting a new paradigm in which home appliances are continuously upgraded like smartphones.

If issues such as an abnormal refrigerator temperature or a slightly open door are detected, customers are notified via smartphone alert. In addition, even without a visit from a service engineer, customers can receive help with self-remediation by having the after-sales service center remotely check usage history through the ThinQ AI app, or receive guidance for quickly requesting after-sales service.
Beyond this, a variety of convenience features are set to be included, such as △'Smart Routine,' which sets home appliances and IoT devices to your desired state all at once according to your lifestyle patterns, and △'Smart Pairing,' which transfers washer usage data to the dryer to enable customized operation.
