2024 WorldSkills Lyon
Wins Bronze Medal and Medallion for Excellence
Emons won one bronze medal and one Medallion for Excellence at the '2024 WorldSkills Lyon,' held in Lyon, France, from September 10 to 15, marking its fifth consecutive competition with a medal.
With a 74-year history, the WorldSkills Competition is a global vocational skills contest in which young skilled workers from around the world compete. At this year's competition in Lyon, France, Team Korea placed second overall, earning 10 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals.
Emons competed in three trades—furniture, cabinetmaking, and interior decoration—with Park Sung-min winning a bronze medal in cabinetmaking and Jung Min-kyu earning a Medallion for Excellence in interior decoration. In particular, the cabinetmaking trade has now earned a medal for five consecutive competitions. Having achieved outstanding results in succession at the '43rd WorldSkills Competition in São Paulo, Brazil' in 2015, the '44th WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi, UAE' in 2017, the '45th WorldSkills Competition in Kazan, Russia' in 2019, and the '46th WorldSkills Competition' in 2022, Emons was awarded the Presidential Prize last year in recognition of its achievements. With the awards from this year's competition, Emons has now amassed a cumulative total of 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, and 4 Medallions for Excellence.
