Third store to open in Seoul; expanding its urban Seoul store network
Offering customized services tailored to the Nowon area
Eugene Home Center has opened ‘Ace Hardware Nowon,’ a store under its home-repair specialty brand.
Following the Geumcheon and Yongsan stores, the Nowon store is the company’s third location in Seoul. Located in a single-story building in Sanggye-dong, Nowon-gu, it occupies a sales floor of 996.19㎡ (about 301 pyeong). Situated in a key district of northern Seoul and adjacent to the Dongbu Expressway and the Outer Ring Expressway, it offers excellent traffic access, while ample parking makes shopping convenient.
Ace Hardware Nowon is notable for reflecting the characteristics of the Nowon area, which has many homes that are more than 20 years old. It has substantially strengthened the range of categories needed for home repair—including interior materials, paint, lighting, and tools—while placing the products customers seek most often at the front of the store so they can be found at a glance.
In particular, the store provides customized services tailored to the Nowon area by linking to interior materials in high demand in older homes, such as bathrooms, kitchens, windows and doors, and interior doors. For bathroom products, purchases of 300,000 won or more come with a free installation supported by an on-site visit from Ace Hardware’s professional installation team. In addition, the Nowon store offers an extra 20% discount for group purchases of three or more households of an American Standard set consisting of a toilet, washbasin, and faucet.
With interest in family camping growing amid COVID-19, the store has also expanded its outdoor category. To mark the opening of the Nowon store, popular camping brand Stanley makes its debut with a 10% discount on all items in celebration of its new entry, along with its steady-selling Water Jug available at a special price.
Ace Hardware also provides its own distinctive services for customer convenience. These include early opening hours for professional customers (opening at 8 a.m.) as well as a Home Repair Concierge service offering customized home-repair consultations. In addition, the store plans to boost customer satisfaction with services such as color-matching, in which paint is made on the spot in the customer’s desired color, and wood-cutting.
In particular, the nearby Ace Hardware Toegyewon store is a specialty store for business customers offering a wide range of building materials, frequently visited by interior companies and lodging-facility operators, and synergy with the Nowon store is anticipated.
A Eugene Home Center official said, “Ace Hardware Nowon plans to stock customized products that match the living environment and needs of its main target customers, while providing one-on-one, customer-tailored solutions to address home-repair concerns.” The official added, “Furthermore, reflecting the local characteristic of a high proportion of four-person households, we will move beyond simply being a store that sells products and develop it into a lifestyle and cultural space that families can enjoy together.”
