Eight theaters nationwide, including CGV Gangnam

Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. (President and CEO Oh Jin-soo) has completed the construction of 'Safe Exit Routes' by applying the antiviral paint 'Ahnshim Doctor' at eight CGV theaters nationwide. By coating the exit routes through which moviegoers leave with antiviral paint, the company has reinforced its disinfection efforts to prevent COVID-19.

Earlier in April, Samhwa Paints signed a 'Business Agreement for Building Safe Exit Routes for Moviegoers in the COVID-19 Era' with CGV, agreeing to apply the antiviral paint 'Ahnshim Doctor' to theater exit routes. Accordingly, starting with CGV Gangnam, Safe Exit Routes have been established at seven theaters nationwide, including CGV Daejeon Terminal and CGV Centum City, while a 'Samhwa Paint Ahnshim Doctor Theater' is also being operated at the newly opened CGV Yeonnam.

Ahnshim Doctor, applied to the Safe Exit Routes, is an eco-friendly water-based paint—the first in Korea to feature antiviral, antibacterial, and easy-cleaning properties—and has obtained a patent. It is a comprehensive safety paint that eliminates 99.9% of airborne viruses upon contact with the painted surface (based on the Picornavirus standard). In addition, it has been certified by the FITI Testing & Research Institute for antibacterial efficacy against five types of microorganisms, including Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, and mold, helping to maintain a hygienic environment.

Beyond the Eco-Label, it has also passed eco-friendliness standards by becoming the first in the domestic industry to earn the highest grade of the HB Mark, the standard certification for eco-friendly building materials.

An official from Samhwa Paints said, "Ahnshim Doctor has already proven its applicability through installation at various multi-use facilities such as HACCP-certified factories, hospitals, daycare centers, libraries, and public institutions," adding, "We hope that through the CGV Safe Exit Routes established this time, people can safely enjoy their leisure activities during this period wearied by the intense heat and COVID-19."
