20th WDO Training Course
Classes begin April 16, held every Saturday
Wood University, sponsored by Canada Wood, is Korea's leading educational institution for training experts in timber construction, and it is now accepting enrollment for its 20th WDO (WoodWorks Design Office — theory of timber building structural design and software practice) course.
The 20th WDO course runs from April 16 to August 6, with live online lectures held every Saturday for three hours. The course content and objectives include: △acquiring specialized knowledge in timber building structural design △learning structural calculations for timber buildings and how to use professional structural software △gaining practical knowledge of timber building structural design through hands-on exercises.
The main lecture topics include: △structural planning for timber buildings △allowable stress design method △calculation of dead loads, live loads, snow loads, and wind loads △design values and adjustment factors for structural materials △design of bending, compression, and tension members △design of connections and hardware △how to use WoodWorks Design Office and its practical application.
The course is intended for employees of architectural firms, timber construction companies, construction-related companies, and structural engineering firms, as well as professors and students in university architecture departments, government officials involved in construction, and anyone interested in timber construction. Tuition is 1.89 million won (including textbook fees and VAT), and overseas training costs are incurred separately for applicants who choose to participate.
Those who complete the Wood University course are given priority eligibility to participate in the on-site timber housing training in Canada conducted by Canada Wood, and WDO course participants are provided with an educational version of the WoodWorks Design Office structural design software free of charge.
