2024 Sustainability Report
Shinmyung Maru Recognized for Eco-Friendly Efforts

Shinmyung Maru announced that, amid the continuing serious problems of climate change and the damage and depletion of natural resources, Unilin of Belgium—a world-leading flooring company—has once again emphasized the role and future vision of a company centered on sustainability in the interior design product and building materials sectors through its Unilin Sustainability ESG Report 2023.
Quick-Step, Unilin's flagship brand, is a top-quality flooring product developed to create better spaces and improve users' quality of life. The product has earned various global eco-friendly certifications and has gained the trust of domestic consumers. While interest in eco-friendliness is gradually increasing in Korea's construction and interior markets, no company holds as wide a range of eco-friendly certifications as Unilin's Quick-Step products.
In 2023, Unilin met 61% of its energy demand through renewable energy, and through a program called 'One Home,' it puts into practice the philosophy of viewing the Earth as a single space and protecting the global environment as a means of protecting users. This philosophy prioritizes eco-friendliness not only in Quick-Step products but throughout the entire manufacturing process.
Kwon Hyuk-tae, CEO of Shinmyung Maru, which imports Quick-Step into Korea, received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award in the eco-friendly equipment and materials category in 2023, and the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award in the eco-friendly category in 2024. CEO Kwon Hyuk-tae said, "We received this award in recognition of our contribution to the development of the domestic construction industry by importing Quick-Step, an eco-friendly flooring product, and it served as an occasion to once again confirm the high level of interest in eco-friendly materials in Korea." He added, "Going forward, we will do our best to make Quick-Step—which can be used with peace of mind in every respect, including functionality, durability, and eco-friendliness—known to even more people."
