Launches hybrid food waste disposer ‘Verde’
Expanding to some 3,000 product types including lumber, flooring, tile, ceramics and windows/doors
Eugene Corporation has unveiled a food waste disposer, moving to diversify its building-materials distribution business. The company recently launched Verde, a hybrid food waste disposer.
Meaning ‘green’ or ‘verdant’ in Spanish, Verde is an eco-friendly food waste disposer. It applies environmentally friendly elements to the food-processing cycle, such as natural-air drying and an exhaust system that vents through the drain pipe.
Rather than discharging food waste into the sewer, Verde uses a collection method. Without the need to manage microorganisms or filters, it grinds food waste using Verde’s own proprietary technology at the sink and then air-dries it, reducing food waste volume by up to 90%.
A blower operates 24 hours a day, discharging odors into the drain to block foul smells. The natural-air drying method lowers electricity costs compared with hot-air drying, and its excellent economy comes from not requiring filter or drying-bin replacement. With a low-speed gear and a quiet drying-fan design, it delivers a low-noise system operating at 35 dB or less — below the 40-decibel (dB) library noise standard.
Installation is also simple. Its built-in design, installed under the sink, makes excellent use of space. When moving, it can be easily reinstalled with no separate construction work. It also enhances convenience by allowing food to be processed at the same time as washing the dishes.
With the launch of Verde, Eugene Corporation aims to expand its building-materials distribution business one step further, from a focus on materials to home appliances.
Eugene Corporation entered the building-materials distribution business in 2013 with rebar, and has steadily expanded to some 3,000 types of interior materials, including lumber, flooring, tile, ceramics and windows/doors. Last year, sales from the building-materials distribution business reached 356.6 billion won. Compared with sales of 11.4 billion won when it first entered the market, the company is regarded as having succeeded in strengthening the competitiveness of its portfolio and expanding the scale of the business.
To boost Verde sales, Eugene Corporation is committed to actively targeting not only construction firms — key clients of its existing building-materials distribution business — but also the B2C market. To this end, it is expanding its sales channels and stepping up online and offline marketing, including live broadcast sales.
Eugene Corporation said, “Verde is a new hybrid-type product that combines only the strengths of existing food waste disposers, meeting the needs of customers who seek eco-friendliness and convenience,” adding, “Starting with the launch of Verde, we plan to broaden our distribution channels — which were previously centered on business-to-business — to include consumer transactions, and to expand the portfolio of our building-materials distribution business.”
